Lilith Clawthorne is a major character in Disney's The Owl House franchise.
She is the estranged older sister of Eda Clawthorne, who she also viewed as her best friend. Despite both striving to join the Emperor's Coven when they were kids, Lilith's insecurities led her to cursing her own sister to raise her chances of getting in the Emperor's Coven, knowing that the latter would certainly beat her in a Witch's Duel at the time. Many years later, now Coven Head and one of the highest-ranking servants of Emperor Belos, she would continuously attempt to convince her sister into joining a coven in hopes that the Emperor could undo her previous mistake and remove Eda's curse. She is also the best friend of Hooty.
She was voiced by Cissy Jones.

In General[]
- While she was initially an antagonist in the first season, she clearly had good intentions behind her actions as she merely wanted to bring Eda into the Emperor's Coven knowing that she was more than talented enough to join anytime she wanted so they could live the dream they had ever since they were children, and it was also in order to have her curse healed. After realizing Belos' true nature, she later redeemed herself and turned against him to save Eda from being petrified.
- Though she used to be jealous of her sister Eda as she wanted to be better than her, she later subverted this and becomes far more supportive and protective of Eda after her redemption.
- Despite the high Admirable Standards of Owl House, Lilith passes it by sharing the curse between her and Eda, as well as being willing to corrupt the Draining Spell in Eda's place, which threatened all magical beings within the Boiling Isles.
Background[]
- She wanted to join the Emperor's Coven with Eda to make the world a better place alongside her sister ever since she was little.
- When she was young and Eda injured her leg, she used a spell that allowed her to share Eda's pain to make Eda feel better by reducing her injury.
- While she is responsible for cursing Eda, she merely did it to increase her chances of joining the Emperor's Coven and meant no true harm behind it. Furthermore, she only believed the spell would just take away Eda's powers, only be temporary, and would wear off after a day had passed. Unfortunately, the curse turned her into the Owl Beast and was later revealed that its effects were permanent. Had Lilith known this, she would've never cursed Eda in the first place.
- Additionally, ever since she cursed Eda, Lillith spent so much time trying to discover a potential cure for it, showing clear remorse for having sabotaged her sister to such an extent and dedicated her time and effort into trying to reverse her mistake.
- When her dad's eye was injured by the Owl Beast within Eda while battling said curse, she immediately ran to get the Healing Coven.
- She spent her whole life trying to find Eda once more to bring her into the Emperor's Coven, as she believed that Belos would heal her curse if she did.
Season 1[]
- While she did cheat to guarantee Amity's victory against Luz by planting a power glyph on the former to amplify her magic, this makes sense as she knew Eda would somehow cheat herself anyways, which is proven to be the case as the latter rigged the battlefield with multiple traps.
- When Eda mentioned that her curse was worsening and that it prompted her to want to see her sister again, Lilith was genuinely moved by this and admitted that even though it mostly surprised her, she did enjoy Eda's company.
- When the Emperor's guards successfully captured Eda (who was actually just Luz in Eda's body due to the body swapping spell she performed with the latter), she removed the order that would have her sent to the Conformatorium so Eda could join the Emperor's coven and have her curse healed as well as have all of her crimes lifted. When she refused the offer and ran away, she tried to chase her and bring her back to the coven.
- She tried to search for the Bloom of Eternal Youth in order to give it to the Emperor. When Eda later tagged along with her and saved her from a monster, she was grateful for her assistance.
- When the Bloom of Eternal Youth turned out to be fake all along, she helped Eda fight the monster that was going to suck their life after luring them into the trap before giving Eda another offer to join the coven rather than bringing her there forcefully and was saddened when she once again declined her but still respected her wishes.
- She played a game of Grudgby with Eda where if she won, Eda would join the Emperor's Coven with her.
- She brought Eda to the Emperor, where she learned that Belos never had any intention of healing Eda's curse and was instead going to have Eda petrified. This revelation is what leads to her not destroying Eda's staff as ordered and kickstarted her redemption.
- After Luz angrily said she deserved to be petrified instead of Eda, she fully agreed with this and told her the truth behind the curse and her persistent attempts to get Eda to join the coven. She then gives Eda's staff to Luz and redeems herself by alliancing with the latter to rescue Eda from her petrification.
- She brought Luz and King to the podium of Eda's petrification cell, so they would be able to rescue her. Even though she vowed to remain in the Emperor's coven, she promised to make sure an event like Eda's petrification would never occur again.
- When Eda had been almost fully turned into stone, she used a spell that would help her fight through and later completely wear down the petrification spell's effects.
- She cast a spell so that the Owl Beast curse would now be split between her and Eda, essentially giving her half of the curse. This allowed Eda to revert back to her original form at the expense of her magic. Despite knowing her powers would be weakened too, she still initiated the spell so that Eda could get her form back.
- She then decided to stay with Luz, Eda, and King so the former could teach them Glyph magic.
Season 2[]
- She helped Eda and Luz bring items to sell to earn money after Eda could no longer sell human objects like she used to before.
- She decided to make a potion to peek into the Emperor's castle, even trying to fight fire bees for their honey to make it.
- While she initially found Hooty annoying at first and would even lash out at him, she later became best friends with him after he risked his life to get the honey for her, healing him, helping make the potion together with him, and saying she would protect him after Luz, King and Eda said they were going to draw faces on him.
- She created an ice crown, ice pops and an ice statue for Hooty with the knowledge she learned from Glyph magic.
- She saved the entire house from being consumed by a blob of ice that was created by Eda, who tried to making a glyph without learning the basics first.
- This also caused her and Eda to realize that they can make entirely new Glyphs by combining certain Glyph spells together which could come into great use later.
- She fought Jean-Luc after it started attacking King and Luz.
- She was worried when she saw Eda was hurt from her fight with Jean-Luc.
- While she did mock King's claims of being the King of all Demons, she felt genuine remorse for talking down on him after finding out his backstory and tried searching for him after he ran away upon discovering the truth about himself.
- She helped Luz, King, Eda and Hooty go back to the castle to find further evidence about where King really came from, even helping attack Jean-Luc so they could get to the top.
- She called out Eda for sending their mom away even though she claimed to have found a cure for the curse.
- While she did temporarily disown her mother, this is because Gwendolyn always spent her time with Eda and rarely gave Lilith any attention, which makes her anger understandable. Additionally, she forgave her mother when she apologized for neglecting her, making it merely a Heating-Up Period.
- While she did cause some destruction during her state in the Owl Beast curse, it was completely out of her control since she had no way of suppressing the curse's effects.
- She decided to stay with her mom in order to make up for lost time and reconnect with her family, and when Hooty was sad about this, she told him they could be pen pals and that she would make sure to keep in touch with him.
- She wrote a letter to Hooty after reading his letter saying that he feels unimportant since all he does is sit by while Luz, Eda, and King are out on adventures which concerned her. She reminds him that he is important because he's the Owl House itself and is the one who takes care of and protects everyone who resides within it.
- This letter is exactly what inspired Hooty to go out his way to help everyone with their current struggles which consisted of: King's insecurities due to being clueless about his species or origin, Eda trying to recover her lost strength so she can protect her loved ones again and Luz being left torn between her feelings for Amity and returning back home. Though it started off rough at first due to Hooty initially believing that his actions had the exact opposite effect of what they were supposed to, it ultimately led to Luz and Amity finally getting together, Eda accepting the Owl Beast as part of her and coming to terms with her curse and developing a harpy-like physiology, and King discovering a new sound-based power he never knew he had before.
- She helped Luz discover time portals so that Luz could find Phillip Wittebane, the inventor of the portal door, so Luz can make a new portal door.
- She and Luz helped Phillip Wittebane find the Collector in hopes that Phillip would show them how to make a portal door.
- She unlocked the door to the Collector's cell while Luz went to talk to Phillip.
- While she did say Phillip should be digging his own grave and punched him, both instances were justified as Phillip lied to Luz and Lilith and used them as bait for a beast.
- After finding out the truth about the Draining Spell, she went to the Owl House to help, including allowing King, Luz and Hooty to go to find out if the warrior clan was who sent King the letter is really his family.
- Before King, Luz, and Hooty left she told Eda they would find a way to keep Luz and King safe and hugged her.
- She and Eda went to hide on the Knee where she tried to come up with plans to defeat Belos once and for all.
- She and Hooty started searching for King after he went away with Steve.
- She joined the CATs to help stop the Draining Spell.
- She was willing to corrupt the Draining Spell with her curse in Eda's place, only to be rejected due to her not having the curse as long as Eda did.
- She told Eda to flap her arms if she needs help while corrupting the Draining Spell, showing her willingness to volunteer if she needed to.
Season 3[]
- When the Collector started recklessly destroying things, she warned them to stay away from King.
- She, Eda and King hid from the Collector in a little shelter, where she made elixirs to turn Eda back after she went into her Owl Beast form.
- She was extremely happy to see Hooty after King revealed he found him.
- She told King to not risk their safety by trying to get Hooty turned back to normal.
- She found out that Titan magic can cancel out Collector magic, which led to the Titan genocide and said there's hope to defeat the Collector, suggesting that they seal him away again.
- She was happy to see Steve again after the Collector turned them back to normal.
- After the Collector turned Hooty back to normal, she was tearfully relieved to see him back to normal.
- She went to Luz's Quinceañera party, making sure they followed Camila's instructions perfectly, before saying goodbye to the Collector when they went for the stars.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She has moments where she acts arrogant or jerkishly even after her redemption, such as bragging she's still to be respected before ranting about how "special" the Golden Guard is, mocking King over the fact his dad wasn't around to watch him hatch, trying to come up with a museum exhibit to show up her rival/former mentor Flora D'splora, and being shown willing to commit dark deeds in King's name when she found out he was a Titan.
