| “ | Tikki, spots on! | „ |
| ~ Marinette's catchprhase triggering her transformation into Ladybug in the English dub. |
| “ | That's not true! You don't have to crush anyone! There's no such thing as winners, or losers! There's just... people, with other unique differences and individualities! [...] I'm not finished! [...] Zoé, no one will judge you here. You can just just be yourself. You might trip, you might fall, and there'll always be someone to help you back up. I'll always be there for you! | „ |
| ~ Marinette to Zoé/Sole Crusher. |
| “ | After the wish, all I could find was the double wedding ring along with the Miraculouses that Monarch had turned them into rings and Cat Noir's and mine. I transformed into Aqua Bug and searched the basement but nothing. Even after repairing everything, it is as if the brooch had disappeared. But whatever happens, we'll be ready. When Monarch seized my yo-yo, he suddenly gained access to the Miraculouses all at once. This can never happen again, which is why I'll remain the Guardian but only to support and help my fellow heroes. From now on, each holder will be responsible for their Miraculous and their kwami. To be ensured that power will be used for the greater good, it needs to be shared. | „ |
| ~ Marinette's speech in Re-creation and her most famous quote. |
Marinette Dupain-Cheng, also known as her superheroine identity Ladybug, is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Cat Noir) of the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir series. She was a normal Chinese-French teenage girl who lived an ordinary life until she suddenly received a Miraculous, a magical jewel that grants superpowers to its wearer and also has a kwami sealed inside it.
By using her kwami Tikki, she can transform herself into a ladybug-style superheroine, she was given her miraculous by Master Fu, the Guardian of all Miraculous. She is also the leader of The Miraculers. The Miraculous she received was the Ladybug Miraculous, which is the most powerful miraculous alongside the Cat Miraculous, and it bestows Marinette the power of Creation. She uses it to protect Paris from evil threats, namely Hawk Moth, who regularly akumatizes normal people (turning them into supervillains by feeding off their negativity). She's also the love interest and girlfriend of Adrien Agreste.
In French, she is voiced by Anouck Hautbois. In English, she is voiced by Cristina Vee (who also voiced Killua Zoldyck in Hunter x Hunter and Wonder Woman in the 2019 DC Super Hero Girls reboot).
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In general[]
- She, alongside Cat Noir, save people after they become akumatized by Hawk Moth on a regular basis, sometimes even requiring convoluted strategies to complete her mission.
- She shows deep care for her friends and family, including people she doesn't know that well.
- She protects people from Hawk Moth's influence, including people with malicious intentions.
- After she used her Ladybug identity for her own benefit in "Volpina", she tried to apologize to Lila for her earlier actrions.
- Despite Chloé being mean to her for years, she often shows care and sympathy towards her while in her Ladybug persona, not allowing her unpleasant relationship with the latter to cloud her judgement.
- She has stopped many dangerous akumatized villains, including ones who have wanted to destroy or endanger the world.
- While she was almost akumatized four times showing she's not incorruptible, the second time it was for a good cause after she was wrongly expelled due to Lila's lies, the thrid time she rejected the Megakuma with Cat Noir's help, and the first and fourth times she actively resisted and managed to prevent it on her own.
Seasons 1-3[]
- Even though it would ruin her date with Adrien, she goes to help a mother after she dropped her phone knowing that if she hadn't she would have to let the stroller she was carrying her baby in go which would have harmed the baby.
- In "Santa Claws", although she attacked Santa Claus and refused to listen to Adrien, she felt remorse when she found out her mistake.
- Reverses the mistakes she made in the past to prevent the catastrophic events that occurred when Cat Blanc was created, effectively saving all of Paris from being destroyed as well as Cat Blanc's goal to destroy the universe after believing he lost everything by de-akumatizing him, traveling back in time to undo her error of Adrien finding out her identity to ensure that he would never get akumatized and turn into Cat Blanc again.
- While she did have a wrathful and rather hostile moment where she punched Adrien's cousin, Félix, this is justified as he forcefully tried to kiss her.
- Instead of destroying her sentimonster counterpart, Ladybug not only spared her life but attempted to give her the freedom to make her own decisions from that point onward.
- In Miraculous Shanghai:
- She shown concern after Fei stole back her earrings from Cash, she was worried, that whoever (unaware of Fei stealing them at the moment before Vash revealed it) gave her earrings to Cash, who will lose their money, and even told Fei that stealing is wrong, showing she learned from her previous mistakes when she stole something from others.
- Felt remorse for refusing to forgive Fei.
- Helped Fei stop YanLuoShi from destroying Shanghai.
- She takes the Bee Miraculous from Chloé after defeating her, preveting her from use it for selfish purposes.
Miraculous New York[]
- She managed to resurrect Uncanny Valley after she was indirectly touched by Cat Noir's Cataclysm, which was Techlonizer's (and by extension Hawk Moth's) fault since the former deliberately grabbed Cat Noir's Cataclysm-imbued arm which led to Uncanny Valley's accidental death and was already evil on his own volition even before his akumatization.
- She stopped Hawk Moth and Miraclonizer from nuking Paris and starting a world war.
Seasons 4-5[]
- Despite yelling at her friends in "Gang of Secrets", she mainly did so because she had an emotional breakdown due to not only having to constantly face Shadow Moth's akumatized threats but also becoming the new guardian, she also couldn't risk them finding the miracle box that contained the kwamis. She felt genuine remorse for scolding and dismissing her friends and apologized to them all as soon as she got the chance.
- In the same episode, she convinces Lady Wifi to resist Shadow Moth and even break free from his control, something that was never possible before. She then gives the de-akumatized Alya the Fox Miraculous, allowing her to transform into Rena Rouge and help her defeat the other akumatized villains. Afterwards, she confesses the truth to her best friend about her secret identify as Ladybug at the end of the episode.
- In "Sole Crusher":
- Unlike how she initially misjudged Adrien for being Chloé's only friend during the first day of school, she was completely unbiased against Zoé when she discovered she was Chloé's half-sister and told her friends they shouldn't judge someone before getting to know them, showing that she learned from her previous mistake.
- In that same episode, she interfered when Chloé try to manipulate Sole Crusher (who was an akumatized Zoé), into crushing Kitty Section, hoping to prevent further violence and while at first calling Sole Crusher out for absorbing numerous people, which was actually a reminder that she was the only person that she spared from her rampage, she then explains to Sole Crusher that there's no such thing as "winners and losers". knowing that Sole Crusher was upset upon realizing she was lied to by Chloé (although Sole Crusher took pity on her, and allowed her to continue explaining to her for her earlier kindness when she first arrived in Paris when she was Zoé) comforted her by telling her there's just people with other unique differences and other individualities. Although she briefly yelled at Cat Noir when he unintentionally interrupts her, she tells Zoé/Sole Crusher that no one will judge her here, and that she can be herself and, she might trip or fall, but there will be always someone to help her back up, and she will always be there for her, showing her comfort and reassurance, which causes Sole Crusher to be deeply touched and take her words to heart, although this backfired when Shadow Moth successfully convinced Sole Crusher otherwise.
- In "Mr. Pigeon 72", he tapped into her potential and created Magical Charms that could repel akumas for those who hold them (until Shadow Moth discovered how to create "Megakumas"). These magical charms prevented previous victims of Shadow Moth from being akumatized once more and at the very least, reduced their likelihood of getting akumatized again.
- In "Strikeback", she didn't get mad at Alya after she revealed her secret identity to Nino, even letting her keep the Fox Miraculous.
- In Miraculous Paris, that is situated after the events of "Destruction":
- She saves Betterfly from Claw Noir and Shadybug, her alternate evil counterpart.
- Despite Shadybug putting her, Cat Noir and Betterfly in constant danger, she showed no anger towards her. When she learned of Shadybug's backstory, she took pity on her and taught Shadybug about kindness and forgiveness, thus redeeming her as a hero and having her counterpart team up with Betterfly.
- In "Emotion," she outsmarts Argos by willingly allowing herself to be snapped out of existence by the power of his Red Moon Sentimonster, which he used to wipe out all civilization in Paris, excluding Kagami, Adrien, and Marinette, the latter being indirectly vanquished by his ability, forcing him to realize the error in his ways and bring back everyone he made vanish.
- In "Confrontation," she developed a plan along with Sabrina, to create irrefutable proof that would expose Lila's true nature for the manipulative person she is as well as Chloé who was also in on it, getting them both expelled and finally putting an end to their corruption in the school once and for all.
- In "Re-creation," she sympathized with Monarch after finally defeating him and tried to convince him to revoke his evil ways.
- As a result of her words, while Gabriel still chose to maka a wish on the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses, he ultimately made a selfless one by sacrificing his life to resurrect Nathalie Sancoeur instead of resurrecting Emilie against her wishes.
- When the final battle is over, she doesn't tell Adrien that Monarch was his father all along, instead telling him that his father helped stopped Monarch for good at the cost of his life. She did this to protect Adrien from the inevitable feelings of devastation, resentment, or misery he would experience and to also honor Gabriel's dying wish, showing that despite everything the latter put her through, she had forgiven him and understood where he was coming from.
Miraculous London[]
- She is shown feeling very remorse of lie to Adrien and the world.
- She prevents Chrysalis from destroy all space-time with the wish, sabotating her notebook for she do not discover her identity.
- She gives all the Miraculous to its holders for never one can get all the Miraculous at once again, like Gabriel did before.

- She go with Kagami to Tokyo to help the Stellar Force.
- She helps Kagami to fix the things with her friends.
- She saves Tokyo from the Moddler and his kaijus, using incessantly her Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damages, until finally fix all with the Stellar Force.
Season 6[]
- In "Climatiqueen", she tried to help Adrien to find a hobby he would like.
- In "Sublimation", she apologized to Sublime for having chased her and accidentally causing her prosthetics to break.
- In "Revelator", she worked with Alya to expose Vincent Aza as a fraud. After Rena Rouge discovered her deepest, darkest secret about Gabriel being Monarch, and became mad at her, she encouraged Cat Noir to evolve his Miraculous powers and grow stronger, which helped him unlock his Miraculous Cat Noir and erased what Rena learned from Ladybug's crystal from her memories.
- In "The Dark Castle", Marinette borrows the Rabbit Miraculous so Alix could celebrate her 16th birthday with her friends and family for a few hours, and when Armand gets akumatized into the Dark Castle, she summoned her future self (from later that day) and gave her the Rabbit Miraculous, using it to become Bunnynette, so she can deal with the villain.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She has moments where she lets her overly secretive behavior get the best of her.
- While she doesn't have any ill-intentions, she has stalking tendencies regarding Adrien, even going so far to study his daily schedule, and commit rather concerning acts towards him such as sniffing his pillow as seen in "Cat Blanc". Though she does gradually become less crazed about Adrien and some of her actions are somewhat understandable due to the 8th grade trauma she had with Kim and Chloé, her tendencies to keep tabs on him aren't completely subverted.
- In the "Shanghai" special, Marinette lied to her parents about how she wanted to learn more about her roots in Shanghai, in order for them to buy her a ticket to China just so she can actually stalk Adrien instead.
- Not only does Marinette lack any hesitation or remorse about her actions even after her parents excitedly told her how they been saving money for a trip to Shanghai ever since she was born, but unlike the "New York" special Marinette doesn't inform Cat Noir of her leaving the country nor does she seem to even consider the risk she was going to be making if Hawk Moth were to attack while she is gone.
- Even though her heroic qualities definitely outnumber her corrupting qualities by a large margin, she often can mess up certain situations for her own personal gain, or by letting her emotions get the better of her:
- In the Christmas special "Santa Claws," she attacked Santa Claus out of her blinded love and concern for Adrien due to thinking that Santa was an akumatized villain and she refused to listen to Adrien when he tried to tell her that Santa was innocent, although when Ladybug realizes her mistake, she instantly regretted it and felt remorse, making it a minor prevention. This also led to Santa actually becoming akumatized for real as a result.
- In episodes such as "Malediktator" and "Zombizou," Marinette has scenes where she humiliates or speaks negatively toward Chloé. Although Chloé’s repeated bullying of Marinette and others could be used to argue these and other incidents were deserved, that context doesn’t necessarily make Marinette’s behavior in these moments right.
- In the episode "Sublimation," she inadvertently ruined Sublime's sponsor trial simply because she got jealous of her being close to Adrien.
- She's also not against using superpowers for personal gain despite her belief that they should only be used for the greater good.
- In the episode "The Bubbler", the minute she saw Chloé trying to kiss Adrien, she called up her Lucky Charm to prevent that from happening. This caused her to detransform and find food for Tikki. Instead of thinking about what was actually important, she selfishly used her powers which wasted her time to defeat the Bubbler.
- In the episode "Cat Blanc", she used the Ladybug Miraculous' power to deliver a gift to Adrien, leading him to uncover her identity and eventually be akumatized into the titular villain.
- In the episode "Mister Agreste", she selfishly used Sass's power to vent to Viperion without consequences, revealing to him that Gabriel Agreste was Monarch and refusing to let him fix her mess before going back in time.
Trivia[]
- She is the first ever page to be created on this wiki!
- While she is NPG now, it is possible she will subvert her corrupting factors in later seasons after season 5, and become Pure Good, or gain more corrupting qualities and stop being NPG.
- Her movie counterpart doesn't count as Near Pure Good, as she is Pure Good for being entirely lacking in corrupt qualities.
- As a rare case, she's one of three yandere to be Near Pure Good. The two other characters are Juvia Lockser from Fairy Tail and Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan.
