Kung Lao is a major character in the 2021 live-action Mortal Kombat film. He is a member of the Forces of Light led by Raiden and the descendant of the Great Kung Lao.

He is played by Max Huang.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • Helps train the Earthrealmers to prepare for the tournament.
  • Convinces Raiden to help the Earthrealmers and train them.
  • While he did heavily insult Kano, it was to release his arcana, which succeeded. Plus, Kano was a jerk and was insulting everyone.
  • Defends the Jinsei temple against Shang Tsung and his forces, fighting off Shang Tsung and Bi-Han.
  • Sacrifices himself for Cole by pushing Bi-Han away from him and trying to fight Shang Tsung, but gets his soul taken by him.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • Brutally killed Nitara by splitting her in half with his hat.
  • Like his game version, he is still arrogant, but it is toned down a lot from the game, so it's quite minor.

Trivia[]

  • He is the first MK NPG to not come from the games, but instead from live action.
