| ~ Kel to Aubrey, Sunny, and Hero during Sunny's last day in Faraway Town. |
Kel is one of the deuteragonists of the 2020 psychological horror game OMORI.
He is an energetic teenager with skills in athletics and one of Sunny's closest friends in childhood who, after experiencing Mari's supposed suicide, would wind up separating himself from the rest of his friend group due to believing that he would only cause problems, yet after he managed to bring Sunny out of his house, this would end up causing a chain of events that would lead the group to all coming together and achieving the good ending.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While he used to be a jerk who messed with characters like Aubrey regularly, in the present-day he is shown to have largely toned down this behavior, being a kindhearted character who focuses his time on helping others.
- While he does often banter with Aubrey, this is clearly in good fun and he doesn't actually intend on hurting her feelings.
- He manages to meet the admirable standards of the work thanks to being the catalyst of the good ending by getting Sunny out of his house, leading to the old friend group getting back together, as well as Aubrey's redemption.
- Despite experiencing the horrible tragedy that was Mari's death, he didn't allow his grief to consume him unlike Aubrey, who wound up becoming a bully who constantly tormented Basil, with him instead choosing to continue being a good person and bringing others up with his optimistic personality.
In the Main Game[]
- Was one of the people who helped comfort Aubrey when they first met, allowing her to become part of the friend group, which would also lead to Basil being introduced as well.
- He is shown to be kind to the other residents of Faraway Town, as seen by how he hypes up Mincy when she was feeling unsure of her drawing skills, saying that it was amazing and assuring her that she was doing great.
- Managed to help Hero recover from Mari's death, and despite the mean things he said to him, Kel showed no malice towards him, simply happy that his brother was healing mentally.
- When he saw Aubrey and the rest of the Hooligans bullying Basil, he quickly intervened and attempted to stop her, and when she wasn't backing down, was willing to get in a fight with her just to protect Basil.
- When Kel finds out that Aubrey had stolen Basil's photo album, he and Sunny go around Faraway Town, fighting against the members of the Hooligans in order to get them to tell him where she was, and when they eventually found her in the church, they attempted to convince her to give the album back.
- Managed to get Basil's photo album back by digging through Aubrey's trash and finding it before returning it to him.
- Upon finding Basil being seemingly bullied by Aubrey and Hooligans at the Hangout Spot, he and Sunny fight against all of them for the sake of his protection.
- When Aubrey accidentally pushes Basil into the lake of the Hangout Spot, he attempts to stall her so that Sunny can save him from drowning.
- His fight with the Hooligans and attempted intervention of Aubrey would lead to Hero finding them and saving both Basil and Sunny from drowning.
- While he was initially against the idea of Aubrey being able to change, Hero manages to convince him to help in seeing what was wrong with her.
- Would play a big part in redeeming Aubrey by confronting her at her house and reminding her of the good times the friend group used to have, going as far as to apologize to Aubrey for not being a better friend despite not being at all responsible for her becoming the bully that she would go onto be.
- When Aubrey broke down at the site of Mari's death and expressed heavy remorse for tormenting Basil, Kel, along with Hero and Sunny comforted her by bringing her into a group hug and assuring her that it was okay.
- He, along with Hero, Aubrey, and Sunny, would go to Basil's house and stay there so that they can be there for him when he is ready to face him.
- In the good ending of the game, he is implied to have called an ambulance alongside Aubrey, Hero, and Polly when Sunny and Basil ended up knocking each other unconscious due to their intense and lethal brawl.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He has a tendency of taking his friends' money to buy things for himself and forgetting to pay them back, such as when he asks Sunny to pay for the gift he was getting for Hero and forgetting to pay him back. This is also shown in a later interaction with Aubrey, where he steals her money in order to buy an Orange Joe for himself and is never shown to have paid it back.
Trivia[]
- Only Kel's Faraway Town counterpart version qualifies as Near Pure Good since his Headspace counterpart is much more of a jerk than his real-world counterpart. He also fails to pull any baseline passing acts for the Headspace setting, merely being a generic party member who helps Omori on his journey through the dream world.
