~ Josuke Higashikata |
Josuke "Jojo" Higashikata is the titular main protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part IV: Diamond is Unbreakable, and the titular deuteragonist of its spinoff prequel Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak
Josuke is the son of Joseph Joestar and Tomoko Higashikata. He lives in the city of Morioh and helped to stop the serial killer Yoshikage Kira alongside his friends and family.
He is voiced by Yūki Ono in the Japanese dub and his English voice actor is the late Billy Kametz.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He wears the same hairstyle as a person that saved him as a kid as a form to show respect.
- His Stand is capable of healing others but not himself which represents his good kind nature and selflessness. Jotaro even described Crazy Diamond to be the kindest Stand he ever met.
- He is the only protagonist in the series to not have killed a single person (not even his own antagonist, Yoshikage Kira, as his death was indirectly caused by Jotaro).
- Restored a tortoise at the beginning of the manga, despite having a phobia of reptiles.
- Showed genuine respect to Jotaro Kujo and asked him to tell his father not to worry about them, despite his father leaving him and never taking care of him.
- Saved a woman's life from a knife.
- Avenged his grandfather's death by defeating Angelo Katagiri.
- Healed Okuyasu Nijimura’s wounds despite him trying to kill him, which inevitably caused Okuyasu to redeem himself and become a better person.
- Used Crazy Diamond to restore Mr. Nijimura’s family photo, proving that he still sentient and there could be a cure for his condition instead of simply killing him to end his suffering.
- He healed Koichi when Hazamada Toshikazu broke his bones by elbowing him towards a metal door, and he also healed a group of bikers when they crossed paths with Hazamada's stand known as Surface.
- When Koichi needed assistance when he was being stalked by Yukako Yamagishi, both Josuke and Okuyasu try to steer her away by making up false rumors about Koichi for her to lose interest, only for this to backfire as he ends up getting kidnapped instead.
- When he heard that Koichi was kidnapped by Yukako and in need of help, he and Okuyasu immediately went to the villa where he was located, only to find Koichi come out victorious.
- Stopped Red Hot Chili Pepper from continuing to do any harm, and he heals Okuyasu when Akira used his Stand to chop his arm off.
- Stopped Bug-Eaten from killing anyone or anything else, and he also saved an old couple and Jotaro from being poisoned.
- Saved Koichi from the clutches of Rohan Kishibe, as well as Okuyasu.
- (Manga Only) Although he threatened to kill a depressed and remorseful Yukako when he saw her at a cafe, it was in case she were to harm Koichi again, but he changes his mind when he sees how guilty she felt, and he apologizes afterwards, wishing her good luck.
- After finding Jotaro and Koichi wounded to the point of near death because of Sheer Heart Attack, Josuke heals the both of them before they were to die of their fatal injuries. Afterwards, he tried to heal Aya Tsuji when she was fatally wounded, though his efforts were in vain as she was already made into a bomb by Yoshikage Kira's Stand known as Killer Queen.
- Despite his disdain for Rohan Kishibe, he still tried to save him from Highway Star.
- Josuke healed Yuya Fungami before beating him up because he didn't wanna beat up a person that is unable to move.
- Although he beat up Yuya Fungami, he decided to heal him again so he will help him defeat Terunosuke Miyamoto.
- Stopped Toyohiro Kanedaichi and Super Fly, later becoming friends with them.
- Stopped Terunosuke Miyamoto from continuing to do any harm. By doing so, he saved his mother and Koichi.
- During the final battle, Josuke had Kira indirectly kill his own Father by mimicking his voice to redirect Stray Cat's bubble towards Yoshihiro. Despite the brutality behind this act, Josuke had no choice.
- Stopped Kira Yoshikage from continuing his serial killing and helped defeat him.
- Despite Kira being a monster, Josuke remained honorable when confronting him and told Kira to summon his Stand, Killer Queen.
- After Kira was defeated, Josuke joined the others in bidding Reimi and Arnold farewell as they ascend to Heaven.
- Forgave a lot of former enemy Stand users, such as Rohan or Yuya, and helped redeem them.
- And even though he refused to forgive Angelo and Teronsuke, they were beyond redemption.
- Saved his friends multiple times by healing them up with Crazy Diamond, often saving their life as was the case with Hayato.
- All in all, made Morioh a safer and happier place and lightened the tone of the show.
- Puts a lot of value in carrying out legacies, as he vowed to protect Morioh in honor of his grandfather and is defensive over his pompadour hairstyle since he started donning it in honor of a pompadoured stranger who saved him as a child.
- Although initially resentful towards his father, Joseph for abandoning his mother, he quickly forgave him and warmed up to him, supporting him back on his feet when his walking cane broke as soon as he arrived in Morioh (even if he could've picked the alternative of fixing the cane with Crazy Diamond.)
- He is arguably one the most compassionate, forgiving and noble Joestar of the Jojo family besides Jonathan and George The First.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Josuke gets angered when someone insults his hair, which results in him going into a blind rage. Although he does this as he sees this as an insult to the person who saved him, he usually gets blinded by his own rage and goes on brutal beatdowns.
- He's mischievous for being a juvenile delinquent who often does minor morally reprehensible actions, usually whenever money is involved:
- He tries to scam Shigechi out of the money he collected by breaking his promise with him.
- Uses Mikitaka Hazekura's shape-shifting powers to cheat on a game of Cee-Lo against Rohan in order to rip him off, and he gets away with the act as Rohan's house sets on fire, not caring or even trying to fix the damage with Crazy Diamond.
- At the end of Part 4, he is seen stealing his father's wallet, proving he did not give up on his delinquent ways.
- Although he is never lethal, some of the punishments he gives to his enemies could be considered worse than death, as he has trapped some of them inside inanimate objects forever (Though they deserved it).
Trivia[]
- He can be considered as a foil of Yoshikage Kira, while Kira is the evil force that hides within Morioh, Josuke is the light that protects it. Interestingly, Yoshikage Kira is Near Pure Evil.
- His alternate counterpart from JoJolion cannot qualify as Near Pure Good due to being more lethal and ruthless than him.
