Johnny Cage is one of the main protagonists of the Mortal Kombat franchise. He is an aspiring movie star that joins the tournament to prove that he is a good fighter.

• While the Mortal Kombat universe is usually dark and grim, Johnny is one of the few lighthearted characters.

Original Timeline

• After finding out that Shang Tsung lied about the tournament, Johnny joins Raiden and the Forces of Light.
• Joined Liu Kang in protecting Earthrealm in the invasion.
• After he is killed by Motaro and sent to the heavens, he asked Raiden to revive him so he can help him, to which he obliges.
• Becomes the de facto leader of the Earthrealm army and tracks down Shinnok and Shang Tsung.

Alternate Timeline

Mortal Kombat 9

• He openly refuses to kill Baraka after beating him in the tournament.
• Tries to help Sonya with her mission and defeats Kano when he attacks them.
• Leaded Raiden to where Jax and Sonya are so he can help them.
• Helped Jax save Sonya when she is captured.
• He tries to calm Kitana down when she attacks Smoke.
• Joined the Earthrealmers in fighting the invasion.

• He tries to stop Kano from taking past Sonya and Johnny but is shot in the leg.
• Joined Raiden and the Earthrealmers in the final fight at Kronika's hourglass.
• While he was initially an arrogant, egotistical pervert, he subverted those traits and became a more humble and respectful hero.
• He is overall a good father and husband as he saved Sonya multiple times and gives advice to Cassie on how to lead her team and comforts her when Sonya dies.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?

• While he has subverted most of his corrupting traits, he still has some arrogant and jerkish moments.
  • He constantly flirts with many of the female Kombantants despite their rejections to him.
  • His Nut Shot Punch is considered a dirty move in Mortal Kombat.

Trivia

• He is the second male NPG and third MK NPG to be a part of the Cage family.
• The reason he has the deceased category is due to his Original Timeline version, which remained dead after the Battle of Armageddon.
• The status of his New Era counterpart is yet to be determined.
