John Diggle is the deuteragonist of the 2012-2020 series Arrow and a major character in the rest of the Arrowverse.
He is a former military soldier who is one of Oliver Queen/Arrow's allies and one of his closes friend. He is Oliver Queen's chauffeur, bodyguard and partner. When he is the Green Arrow, Diggle is also one of his closes and most trusted allies, having not only helped him stop multiple threats, but to improve himself as a person as well. He has also interacted with many other heroes, being an ally of Team Flash.
He was portrayed by David Ramsey.

- He served in the army, saving many innocent lives over the years. He later encouraged his brother Andy to enlist upon discovering his drug dealing.
Season 1[]
- He became Oliver Queen’s bodyguard to protect him from harm. While he initially did this for money, he eventually came to care for Oliver as his own brother.
- He approvingly smiled at Oliver when he pickpocketed Thea’s drug stash, showing John too was concerned about her behavior, despite barely knowing Thea at the time. He joined Oliver in his crusade to protect Star City, helping him defeat many criminals and threats over the years.
- He helped Oliver Queen keep his cover when Quentin was suspecting him of being the Hood.
- He motivated Oliver to do other heroic deeds beyond hunting down the people in "The List", like rescuing people kidnapped in a bank.
- He comforts Oliver when he fails to rehabilitate the Royal Flush Gang, telling him his father would be proud of him for his compassion.
- He tries to dissuade Oliver from trusting Helena Bertinelli too much just due to being attracted to her despite her affiliations with mob criminals.

- He helped Oliver bomb the Applied Sciences department of Queen Consolidated to prevent Slade Wilson from manufacturing Mirakuru and creating super soldiers.
- He helped Oliver carry the Mirakuru cure.
Season 3[]
- In "Flash vs Arrow" it was revealed that he kept Barry's identity as a secret from Lyla when he was carelessly coming uncovered to the Arrowcave and accidentally revealed his identity to Lyla.
- Helped Roy to fake his death so he wouldn't have to spend the rest of his life in prison.
- He honored Floyd Lawton's sacrifice during Joseph Cray's fake kidnapping in Kasnia by drinking in his honor.
Season 4[]
- After Oliver and Felicity retired from Team Arrow after Ra's Al Ghul's defeat, he took over the leadership of the team.
- He helped Oliver and Barry protect Kendra Saunders and defeat Vandal Savage by bringing Laurel as assistance.
- He and Lyla warned Team Flash about King Shark coming after Barry.
- When Andy threatened to kill Lyla and Sara, he shot him.
- He rejoined the army to get more perspective after feeling remorseful due to his failure to see through Andy's deception costing Laurel's life and the homicide of his brother after listening to his threats.
Season 5[]
- He motivated Oliver to hire recruits to replace the old team.
- He helped repel the Dominator invasion.
- He befriended Dinah Drake.
- After Chase tortured Oliver, he attempted to convince him that what he told him was wrong and that he needed to continue being a hero.
- After Oliver and Felicity were trapped in the bunker, he helped free them.
- Stopped Prometheus from dispersing a toxin that would kill everyone in Star City.
- He fought against Prometheus' allies and tried to find a way out of the island they were on.
Season 6[]
- While Oliver was being hunted by the FBI as a suspect of being Green Arrow, Diggle took over his role so Oliver’s son William could have a normal life.
- He agreed to marry Barry and Iris and Oliver and Felicity after the Nazi invasion was averted.
- He rescued Christopher Chance in Kaznia and had him impersonate Tommy Merlyn so he confessed to save Oliver of being convicted as the Green Arrow.
- He was part of Oliver's forces to repel Diaz' overtaking of Star City.
Season 7[]
- Despite Star City's hardline ban on vigilantism, he and other Team Arrow members fought Kevin Meltzner when he was attacking the Star City Coalition.
- After Team Arrow saved the city he gave Oliver and Felicity a hideout of A.R.G.U.S. to protect them from vengeful Ninth Circle members.
Season 8[]
- He went to Earth-2 to accompany Oliver in his quest to save the multiverse.
- He went with John Constantine and Mia Queen to Earth-666 so Lucifer Morningstar gave them access to the purgatory and tried to get Oliver to return until he declined.
- After the Anti-Monitor came to Earth-Prime he fought alongside the heroes to stop him.
- He returned Barry the domino mask he made for Oliver, agreed to research with him about a blood stain with Mirakuru and after they learned that the stain came from the fight Oliver and Thea had with Deathstroke motivates Barry to overcome Oliver's death.
- He assisted in the rescue of William Clayton and in it expressed both gratitude to Oliver for restoring Sara and concern about not saving Oliver's children when he restored both of Diggle's children.
- He made the speech about Oliver in his funeral.
After Arrow[]
- He and Lyla made a recommendation for Cisco so he could join A.R.G.U.S. and move on from his life as a Team Flash member.
- He defended Luke Fox from Russell Tavaroff and motivated Luke to meet again with Batwoman's team when the Batwoman signal was summoning him.
- He came to National City by James Olsen's petition to help Kelly investigate a weird respiratory illness affecting residents of the Narrows.
- He assisted Team Flash against Godspeed's invasion by bringing an entropy machine by Cisco to stop the Godspeed clones. He also fought a clone until the headaches from the green box caused him pain.
- He helped former employer Jada Jet retrieve the Joker's joy buzzer in an attempt to reverse Marquis' impaired empathy.
- He decided to reject the green box's calling in favor of being with his family.
- He sent Oliver's bow to Barry in his birthday.
- He helped Barry, Oliver and Wally defeat Ramsey Rosso and save the multiverse from his infection as a result.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be excessively violent, too wrathful, or just downright lethal at times, such as when he brutally punched many criminals in Russia more than necessary for being unable to see his son.
