~ Jax Briggs's catchphrase. |
Jax Briggs is one of the heroes of the Mortal Kombat series of games. He is a major in the US Special Forces, higher in rank than Sonya Blade, which makes him her commander. Later he becomes another fighter of the Earthly World.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
Original Timeline[]
- He went to the Outside World to save Sony Blade and avenge his partner Beran, who was supposedly destroyed by Shang Tsung.
- He eventually succeeded and saved Sonya Blade.
- He tried to warn the US government about the impending danger from the Outside World, but they did not believe him. Realizing that sooner or later, the invasion of Shao Kahn's forces would take place, Jax decided to secretly prepare to fight his warriors.
- He and the other Earth wars regrouped and went to attack the forces of the Emperor of the Outside World.
- After defeating Shao Kahn and ending the invasion, he and Sonya organized the Outer World Research Agency, whose task was to explore other worlds and anticipate possible dangers to the Earthly Kingdom. Jax became the leader of one of the Agency's research teams and led the squad's first mission into an alien reality.
- He and Sonya helped the Earth Wars and Raiden deal with Shinnok's army.
- He was able to deal with Jarek, who tried to kill Sonya.
- He and Sonya managed to find the cyborg Cyrax, stuck in the desert. They got him out of there and took him with them to the Agency's base. There, they successfully managed to restore Cyrax's free will, after which the former warrior Lin Kuei became their ally and the new agent of the organization.
- He sought to find Hsu Hao, now working for the sorcerers, to avenge the deaths of his comrades. After finding Hsu Hao, Jax tore out his artificial heart, after which he rejoined the rest of the Earth warriors.
- He, regretting the rage he displayed while under Onaga's control, vowed to destroy the Dragon King.
- He fought on the side of the forces of Light in the battle of the Pyramid of Argus.
Alternate Timeline[]
- He was a devoted member of the US Special Forces, and his main goal was to destroy the notorious criminal organization known as the Black Dragon. Together with Lieutenant Sonya Blade, he seized many of their weapon deposits.
- After he was rescued by Sonya and healed by Raiden, he decided to join Earth's Champions for the upcoming Mortal Kombat Tournament.
- He fought bravely against the Tarkatans when they invaded Earthrealm even though they later overpowered him.
- He saved Sonya Blade when she was held captive and almost killed from being drowned alive in the dead pool.
- He reprogrammed Cyber Sub-Zero when he was unwillingly transformed into a Cyber Lin Kuei assassin, thereby restoring his humanity, moral compass, and free will. Afterwards, the latter joined Earth's Warriors thanks to Jax's assistance.
- Feeling guilty for the atrocities committed after being resurrected by Quan Chi as a revenant, he resigned from the army and went out to a farm. He also married a woman named Vera, with whom he had a daughter named Jacqui Briggs. He also proved to be a very loving family man after his retirement.
- Together with the squad led by Kenshi and Sarina, he went to the Underworld. He managed to infiltrate Quan Chi's fortress, where he defeated several of his revenants and finally captured the necromancer.
- Although he joined Kronika, he did so unwittingly and mistakenly. He only did so because she promised him a better fate in her New Era. Besides, he later realized the error of his ways and went over to the hero's side again and helped them defeat her.
- His younger version was genuinely shocked that in the future, though involuntarily, his older self still joined the Kronika refusing to believe that would be his future and that he'd fall so far to help someone like Kronika with her wicked scenes.
- He and Jacqui got hold of Kronika's crown, which gave great power to whoever wore it.
- He took part in the attack on Kronika's Fortress which was very pivotal in her defeat since it prevented her army from supporting her in the final battle.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be a bit lethal, as he kills his enemies (although they certainly deserve it) in rather brutal ways. Although the kills themselves seem to be painless, since the enemy goes into shock before that and most likely does not feel all the pain, so this is a minor prevention.
- He can be a bit arrogant since occasionally, he's been shown to mock his enemies after defeating them.
- Sometimes he can be intemperate and wrathful, such as when it was mentioned that he almost broke Johnny Cage's jaw when he told Jax that his daughter Jacqui had enlisted and joined the Special Forces army. Although it was partially justified, since Jax did not want his daughter to risk her life serving under the special forces, which made Johnny himself not angry at him for this and quickly reconciled with him afterwards, so this is a minor prevention.
