Not being able to speak is not the same as not speaking. You seem as if you like to talk. I like to let people talk, who like to talk. It makes it easier to find out how full of sh*t they are.
~ Lee to Carter.

Yan Naing Lee or better known as Chief Inspector Lee is one of the two main protagonists (alongside James Carter) of the Rush Hour film series.

He is the chief inspector of the Hong Kong Police Force and a personal friend of Consul Solon Han and the martial arts teacher of Soo-Yung Han. He gets partnered with Detective James Carter, whom he didn't get along with at first, but became friends with him by the end of the first movie.

He was portrayed by Jackie Chan who also played Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • He and Carter defeated various villains throughout the films.

Rush Hour[]

  • He led a raid at the wharf to arrest Juntao.
  • He recovered the stolen chinese cultural treasure stolen by Juntao, foiling his plan.
  • He tries to rescue Consul Solon Han's daughter, Soo-Yung who was kidnapped by Juntao and Sang.
  • He willingly works together with Carter to find Soo-Yung and stop Juntao.
  • Although he and Carter didn't like each other at first, they started to work together in the end and became friends.
  • He told the taxi driver that he and Carter were policemen and that he was showing him how to take a gun from a suspect, saving him and Carter from being arrested.
  • Although he called a black bartender the "n" word, he was only following Carter's lead like he said and didn't know it was an insult.
  • He takes the cigarette from a man and says it's bad for him.
  • Although he attacked the FBI, he was only trying to talk to Han for a very serious matter.
  • He tries to get Warren Russ to get his men out of the building that was about to explode.
  • He orders Clive Cobb to give him Juntao's name for the life of Soo-Yung.
  • He saved Carter from Juntao and Sang's henchmen.
  • He apologized to Han for messing up the $50,000,000 ransom for Soo-Yung life and revealed that Juntao was behind it.
  • He takes the bomb vest off of Soo-Yung so she wouldn't get blown up and tries to stop Thomas Griffin, (who was really Juntao the whole time).
  • He tried to keep the chinese vase from being destroyed.

Rush Hour 2[]

  • He willingly takes the case to investigate the murder of two undercover agents.
  • Although he did lie to Carter about going to a party at a bar, but were actually undercover in a triad bar, he apologized for it and only lied for a good reason.
  • He tries to investigate Ricky Tan who was having a party on a boat.
  • He and Carter work together with Isabella Molina to stop Reign's laundering through $100 million.
  • He confronts Ricky who admitted to killing Lee's father and was very tempted to kill him. Luckily, he lets go of his revenge.
  • He saved Carter by kicking Ricky, making him fall out of the window and onto a taxi, killing him and avenging his father. He also felt remorse for killing Ricky Tan, saying that it was an accident.

Rush Hour 3[]

  • He became the bodyguard of Han, who then became the Ambassador of Hong Kong.
  • He chases down the shooter who tried to kill Han and when he realizes it's Kenji, his foster brother, he refuses to shoot him.
  • He and Carter promised Soo-Yung to find the person responsible for Han's assassination attempt.
  • When they return to the hospital, he, Carter, and Soo-Yung fend off the Chinese hitmen from further injuring Han.
  • After preferring to stop Kenji on his own and that Carter is "not his brother", he felt remorse for this and worked together with Carter to stop Kenji from killing Genevieve.
  • He and Carter saved Genevieve from being killed by the hitmen.
  • He saved Carter and Genevieve from Jasmine's attack on them.
  • Although he held scissors against Varden Reynard's neck, he only did it to save Genevieve's life.
  • He willingly turns over Genevieve for the life of Soo-Yung.
  • He gets Carter to drop his gun so Soo-Yung doesn't get killed.
  • He fights Kenji and tried to save him. When Kenji was about to fall off the net, he still tries to save him, still caring for him and felt remorse when he fell to his death.
  • He sends Soo-Yung down the elevator and tells her to call the police.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He has a bit of a perverted side, as shown in the second film when he spied on Isabella with binoculars and enjoyed her getting undressed and in the third film when he insisted that he and Carter should put on a dirty movie upon seeing Genevieve in a beautiful dress. However, it's played for mischief.
  • In the interrogation scene in the third film, he told Carter not to swear in front of the nun, Sister Agnes that was translating French words from the triad, but when he said the triad's an "A.W.", which was actually "A.H." when the triad insulted him and Agnes offered him a dictionary, he said "just call him an asshole!", hypocritically swearing in front of Agnes, although it's played for laughs.
  • In the second movie, he lies to Carter about taking another case on his vacation and waits until the last second to tell him the truth. He does it again at the Spa, falling to tell Carter that Ricky Tan is heavily guarded and allied with the Traids. Rather than apologizing, he argues with Carter when the latter calls him out on his recent dishonesty.
