“ | You know what I'd like, Belos? I'd like to leave the Emperor's Coven, and never step foot in that throne room again. I'd like to study wild magic, and learn how to carve palismen. Hunter is a major character in the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House.
Originally known as the Golden Guard, he is Emperor Belos' "nephew" and former right-hand man. Hunter was originally extremely loyal to his uncle and would do anything to seek his approval, serving proudly as leader of the Emperor's Coven. However, all this changed following his misadventure in the Emperor's mind with Luz where he uncovered the dark truth: that he's just the latest in a line of Grimwalkers created to replace Belos' dead brother Caleb Wittebane, and that the true purpose of the Day of Unity was to wipe out all the witches on the Boiling Isles. Following this, Hunter would redeem himself to stop his creator/now-archenemy and save everyone.
He is voiced by Zeno Robinson.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While he was a villain at first, his worst crimes were kidnapping and attempted murder, and even then he made up for those acts.
- Due to being convinced by Luz, he reluctantly agrees to let the palismen go after she reminds him of what Emperor Belos would do to all of them.
- While he still thinks highly of himself even after the events with Luz, he soon becomes more selfless after he meets Willow, risking himself to protect her and her Flyer Derby team.
- He regrets trying to recruit Willow, Gus, Skara and Viney and attempts to save them when he thought Darius was going to take them to become part of the Emperor's Coven, where they would have to go through grueling tests and their palismen would meet an unfortunate end at Belos' hands.
- After discovering Emperor Belos' true nature and intentions, he saves Luz from getting killed by Inner Belos.
- He has an existential crisis after he discovers Belos' lies and that he himself is a Grimwalker, which leads to him redeeming himself after encountering Gus again in Hexside.
- He defected from the Emperor's Coven, both because he could no longer morally justify working for Belos and because he knew Belos would murder him if he returned to the castle.
- He saved Gus from Graye and formed a bond between them.
- After spending time with Gus while trying to escape an illusion cast by Adrian Graye, he becomes kinder and more approachable, and he ends up calming Gus down from his mental breakdown.
- He told everyone at the Hexside the truth about Emperor Belos and the Day of Unity.
- He and his friends tried to sabotage the Abomaton supply by Odalia for the Day of Unity.
- Discovering that Luz intends to face Belos by herself, he and his friends went to help her. When Belos tries to trick him into not hurting him and tells him he only wanted to help Hunter, he fearfully refuses to believe him because he knew he was lying.
- While fighting against Belos when he possessed him, he righteously stood up to Belos by denouncing his role in the Emperor's Coven and declaring he'd like to make sure the latter never hurts anyone again, finally letting go of his fear of him and tossing the Titan's blood in the lake for the sake of the lives of everyone in the Demon Realm.
- Despite the fact she's the one who helped Belos to meet the Collector, he comforted and encouraged Luz to fight against Belos by telling her about how manipulative he is, and he would have tricked someone else if it weren't her and then there would be no one left to fight back.
- He intended to avenge Flapjack by helping Luz and her friends defeat Belos.
- He comforted Willow and told her not to give up and said she meant a lot to him.
- He and his friends helped save the puppetized Demon Realm citizens from being crushed when Belos took control over the whole Boiling Isles.
- He and everyone in the Demon Realm threw a quinceañera for Luz to show her their gratitude for helping them rebuild the Boiling Isles for four years.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Even after his redemption, he still has moments of being jerkish.
- He fails the admirable standard to Amity, who played an extremely pivotal role in defeating Emperor Belos and The Collector by giving the Luz the spell to escape the Collector's nightmare.
Trivia[]
- Because Dana Terrace is open to continuing the series in the future, if Disney lets her, there is a possibility that his status could be affected.
