Hoagie Gilligan (full name Hogarth Pennywhistle Gilligan, Jr.; better known by his codename Numbuh 2) is one of the four deuteragonists of the 2002 Cartoon Network animated series Codename: Kids Next Door. He is a 10-year-old American boy who enjoys making puns and serves as the 2x4 Technology inventor and pilot of Sector V.
He is voiced by Benjamin Diskin, who also voices Nigel Uno.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- In general, he is the nicest and most conventionally heroic member of Sector V.
- He is protective of Tommy and takes pride in his accomplishments, although he expresses annoyance at the latter's inexperience.
- He and Kuki adopted Bradley in "Operation: C.A.M.P."
- He made a huge dent in Gramma Stuffum's army by eating through her disgusting food in "Operation: N.O.-P.O.W.U.H." and again in "Operation: F.O.O.D.F.I.T.E."
- He arrived with the rest of Sector V to free a brainwashed Nigel from Lizzie's Boyfriend Helmet in "Operation: L.I.Z.Z.I.E."
- Despite their initial animosity, he and The Kid worked together to save chili hot dogs from Mr. Washer (who pitted them against each other to further his plan and wanted to destroy this food because people kept making messes on his counter with them) in "Operation: D.O.G.F.I.G.H.T."
- He defeated Cheese Shogun Roquefort in "Operation: T.H.E.-S.H.O.G.U.N.," saving Wally and helping him escape in the process.
- He solved the case of the pinkeye epidemic and the eye crust dessert in "Operation: P.I.N.K.E.Y.E." by exposing Nurse Claiborne as the culprit, and played a pivotal role in getting her fired and blacklisted from her line of work and all bakeries in the US, which shut down her operation. He also gives Joe (who was taking the infected kids to Nurse Claiborne, and who had saved Hoagie from his boss's attack) the benefit of the doubt, and called in the rest of Sector V and some other operatives to free him and the kids infected with pinkeye.
- He and Kuki performed an emergency surgery on Bradley in "Operation: H.O.S.P.I.T.A.L." to save the latter's life.
- They helped the rest of Sector V defeat Mr. Fizz and deliver soda to any kid who wanted it in Codename: Kids Next Door – Operation: S.O.D.A.
- He, Nigel, and Abby got an entire brussel sprout out of Wally's stomach in "Operation: S.P.R.O.U.T."
- He and Abby got Mr. Fluffleupagus (the Gallagher first graders' class rabbit) back from Heinrich von Marzipan (who was planning to turn him into a chocolate bunny and do the same to more real bunnies, as Heinrich mentions in "Operation: C.H.O.C.O.L.A.T.E.") in "Operation: R.A.B.B.I.T."
- He saved the children from being baked into Father's cake in "Operation: C.A.K.E.D.-F.O.U.R.," sacrificing his own Tubeathon victory to do so.
- He helped the rest of Sector V get the last box of Rainbow Munchies from the Supervillain Supermarket and Deli in "Operation: M.U.N.C.H.I.E.S." Later, when Knightbrace planned to destroy it, Sector V formed a truce with the other villains "until breakfast [was] finished" and they all teamed up to get it back.
- He helped free Billy Hocslawger from his closet at his mother's request in "Operation: C.L.O.S.E.T."
- He and Wally defeated the Bullysaurs in "Operation: B.U.L.L.I.E.S."
- He helped defeat the villains in Codename: Kids Next Door – Operation: V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E., shooting down Common Cold with the C.O.O.L.B.U.S. and firing the T.A.R.P.O.O.N. at the Sweet Revenge so Abby could board it and defeat Captain Stickybeard.
- He, the rest of Sector V, and the Elfa Strike Squad defeated the DCFDTL and Faculty 4 to save Christmas in "Operation: N.A.U.G.H.T.Y."
- He created Age-o-tonic Birthday Suits to combat the effects of Grandfather's Senior Citi-zombification in Operation: Z.E.R.O., and later helped bring the Moonbase down onto the villain. While he kicked Nigel during that time, it was an accident, since he wasn't fully in control of his lower body (which was still Citi-zombified at the time), and he apologized to him for doing so.
- He scolded Wally for yelling at Joey in "Operation: S.A.F.E.T.Y."
- He and the rest of Sector V helped the DCFDTL get rid of the teens in their mansion in "Operation: P.A.R.T.Y." before Father returned from the spa.
- He helped the rest of Sector V hold back Father (who was furiously pursuing Nigel to get his pipe back) to buy Nigel enough time to get the items for the scavenger hunt in Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S. He later said goodbye to Nigel with the rest of Sector V at the end of the film when the former went up to space to join the GKND.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Like the rest of Sector V, he has jerkish moments throughout the series. Examples include selling out Numbuh 13 to the villains in "Operation: M.A.C.A.R.R.O.N.I.," laughing at the Toiletnator's struggles in "Operation: C.A.N.Y.O.N.," laughing at Nigel's butt with the rest of Sector V (sans Nigel and sometimes Abby) in "Operation: B.U.T.T.," and making fun of Tommy for riding Hoagie's old tricycle in "Operation: T.R.I.C.Y.C.L.E."
- He and Abby often tease Wally about his crush on Kuki. He and Wally also teased Nigel and Lizzie about their relationship in "Operation: L.I.Z.Z.I.E.," which prompted Nigel to not acknowledge their relationship in front of his friends, made Lizzie push him in chocolate, and helped lead to Lizzie brainwashing him with a Boyfriend Helmet.
