~ Giyu to himself after "berating" Tanjiro
Giyu Tomioka is a major supporting character in the action dark fantasy anime/manga series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
He is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps and is one of the nine Taisho Hashira, serving as the Water Hashira. He is also the one who convinced Tanjiro to become a demon slayer, while he finds a way to turn his demon sister Nezuko back into a human, making him the first Hashira to support the Kamado siblings.
Giyu is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai in Japanese, and Johnny Yong Bosch in English, the latter of whom also voiced Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach and Nero in Devil May Cry series.
Although on the outside he seems emotionless and stotic, it doesn’t reaches the point of hurting anyone. Also, on the inside he does care for people like his friends or those that are close to him.
He is the reason why Nezuko got accepted by the Hashiras, as he was the one who decided to not kill her despite being a demon who was trying to kill her brother after seeing the strange protective side of her. This would allow Tanjiro to seek a cure of her.
After deciding to not behead Nezuko, he asked his former master to train Tanjiro so he can become strong and cure his sister which makes his role very important for Nezuko’s safety.
He has an extremely strong sense of justice, and deeply cares for his comrades (especially Tanjiro).
When he first met Tanjiro after Muzan attacked and killed his family, he berated him solely to provoke him and help him find the strength to fight.
He partially blamed himself for the deaths of the Kamado family.
He went against the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps to protect Nezuko, without any hesitation.
He yells at his fellow Hashiras to stop deciding on Nezuko’s fate before their master arrives, as he doesn’t want Nezuko to be killed.
He helped Tanjiro to escape from his fellow Hashira, Obanai's grasp so he could protect Nezuko from Sanemi while the other Hashiras were bystanders.
He vowed to commit Seppuku in the event that Nezuko harmed a human.
Fought against Akaza and helped Tanjiro to defeat him.
He, alongside Obanai, Mitsuri, Gyomei, Sanemi and the rest of their allies, fought hard to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and put an end to his reign once and for all until daylight came by.
During the fight, he grips Tanjiro's blade when the latter loses his right arm and the two pin down Muzan and inflict damage to him as the blade turns red.
When the sun came in, he helped his fellow slayers with restraining Muzan when he was about to escape and succeeds as Muzan dies.
When Tanjiro is turned into a demon by Muzan, he prevents him from killing anyone before he is cured by Kanao and becomes a human again.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
Unlike Tanjiro, he shows no pity or tolerance for demons who kill humans. However, he was willing to spare Nezuko when he realized that she wasn't a threat to anyone, so this is a minor prevention.
He has moments of being a jerk from time to time. Though his jerkish moments are rarely taken seriously, making this prevention weak.
