| “ | You're gonna make enemies. People will get hurt... sometimes the people closest to you. So I want you promise me something, okay? Leave Gwen out of it. Promise me that... huh? You promise me. | „ |

George Stacy is the tritagonist of The Amazing Spider-Man and one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Richard Parker) of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
He is a police captain and the father of Gwen Stacy. He dislikes and wishes to get rid of Spider-Man, believing he's a reckless vigilante and a threat, unaware Spider-Man is, in fact, Gwen's high school friend and love interest, Peter Parker. Unlike most social enemies of Spider-Man, however, such as J.J. Jameson, Stacy has genuinely good ideals and eventually changes his mind on Spider-Man after realizing he is just trying to help, even helping defeat the Lizard and saving New York.
He was portrayed by Denis Leary, who also voiced Diego in the Ice Age franchise.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- He easily passes the Admirable Standard of the Webbverse due to keeping Peter’s identity hidden and also playing a crucial role in preventing the Lizard from turning New York into chaos, and unlike Peter, he doesn’t have to compete with the astronomically high Admirable Standards of the MCU.
The Amazing Spider Man[]
- As the leader of the police force, he always strives to keep the population of New York City as safe as possible.
- Cares a lot for his family.
- Unlike most "Spider-Man haters" across the franchise, most notably J.J. Jameson, George isn't motivated by fear or blind hate, but rather genuine belief that Spider-Man is a threat to NYC's population.
- He thinks Peter is a good guy when first meeting him, despite their divergent points of view upon Spider-Man, which shows he doesn't discriminate other opinions.
- He went to fight the Lizard in an attempt to stop him when he tried to transform all of New York's citizens into Lizards.
- While heading there, he stopped Spider-Man by holding him at gunpoint, but when he realized he was Peter, he finally changed his opinions on him, realizing he's a good meaning person despite his methods, and allows him to head to where the Lizard is.
- Doesn't tell anyone who Spider-Man is.
- Saved Peter's life by shooting the Lizard while on top of Oscorp.
- He fought and distracted the Lizard long enough for Peter to prepare the antidote.
- He apologized to Peter for his former behavior, saying that he was wrong, and the city indeed needed him.
- He made Peter promise he will stay away from Gwen as a form of making sure she won't be endangered by Peter's future enemies.
- While this caused intense PTSD for Peter, who spent the whole 2nd movie having visions of him at random times, it wasn't George's intentions, and he only wanted Gwen to be safe.
- His fears come to become true, as Gwen, due to being close to Peter and deciding to help him fight Electro, ended up dying at the hands of Green Goblin.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He is shown, by his initial behavior towards Spider-Man, that he can act cynical and jerkish to others, without fully knowing or understanding of their morals or motives, wanting to get rid of Spider-Man without never trying to see his side, and simply assuming he was a threat, and while he changed his opinion on Peter, this part of his personality is never said to be removed.
Trivia[]
- He is currently the only character in the Webbverse to be Near Pure Good.
