NOTE: This page is only about the original continuity George Joestar as his alternate universe counterpart George Joestar II is not Near Pure Good. Thus, only the original George should be discussed here. |
George Joestar I is the overarching protagonist of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood. He is the father of Jonathan Joestar, and the first member of the Joestar family. He took in Dio Brando after Dario passed away due to thinking he owed Dario for him “saving” his life.
He is voiced by Tsutomu Isobe in Japanese and Marc Diraison in English.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- When he thought Dario Brando saved his life, he made himself externally in debt to him.
- When Dario went to prison for stealing his ring, George let Dario keep it and bailed him out, saying to Dario to sell it for his family and become a good man.
- After Dario’s death, George took in Dio and treated him well for years (much at the cost of Jonathan).
- He trusted Jonathan when he said to only allow the doctors to give him the medicine instead of Dio.
- When Jonathan went missing, George felt worried over him, expressing regret over his strict behavior to him as a child.
- Felt disappointed when Dio was revealed to poison him and turned away to not wanting someone he seen as another son to be arrested.
- Sacrificed himself by getting stabbed on the back by Dio in order to save Jonathan’s life.
- In his last moments, he gave Jonathan his wife's ring and asked Jonathan to bury Dio close to his father despite everything the latter did.
- His sacrifice of saving his son have created the entire heroic Joestar bloodline which they would stop many future villains in the series.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He was really harsh and strict towards Jonathan in favor of Dio, such as spanking him with a ruler, and forbidding him from having dinner due to accidentally pouring wine on their dinner table. However, just like it's said above, he would regret doing this by the end of his life, making this a minor prevention.
- While he managed to stand out due to his sacrifice, he still fails the admirable standards to his son, Jonathan Joestar, who have saved his country with just a bit bigger resources.
Trivia[]
- He's the only Near Pure Good in the series to be a minor character.
- He is the only Jojo Near Pure Good hero to not have a stand.
- His alternative universe counterpart doesn't count because he is extremely abusive to Johnny.
