Gamora Zen Whoberi Ben Titan, also known as simply Gamora is a major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Guardians of the Galaxy duology and Avengers: Infinity War. She is the adopted daughter of the warlord Thanos and a founding member of the superhero group Guardians of the Galaxy.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While she initially starts out as selfish and anti-heroic, she subverts many of these qualities by the time of the Infinity War. And while her hostility to Nebula for being so obnoxious and psychopathic was understandable, she subverted it when Nebula in turn subverted being such an irritating person in general.
- While she helped Thanos and Nebula kill innocent people on Korbin, it was only because she had no choice.
- Although she used to be more wrathful, Gamora shows no signs of jerkish or ill-tempered behavior during the Infinity War, so it's no longer preventative. Overall, she literally subverts most of her corrupting qualities by the time she and her friends met Thor.
Guardians of the Galaxy[]
- She volunteered to go to Xandar in Nebula's place due to thinking it would have been her doom and due to wanting to sell the Orb to the Collector so Thanos couldn't use it to prepare for the decimation of half of the universe.
- She coolly shrugged off Nebula's obnoxious complaints and called her out on her sadism and how it was absolutely nothing to brag about (deleted scene).
- She helped break out of the Kyln. Although they were right to be detained there for endangering the Xandarian community and all of their other wrongdoings, they needed to escape in order to save said community in the first place, which later ended up happening.
- She tried to reason with Nebula just before she took the Orb from her.
- She begged Yondu to not let billions of innocent Xandarians die, only for him to irrationally accuse her of being sentimental.
- She tried to reason with Nebula and convince her to help fight against Ronan, calling her out for her indifference about how unhinged he was.
- She saw the Power Stone was torturing Star-Lord and courageously yelled for him to link her to its energy so both of them could harness it despite knowing she would be tortured as well, all to prevent it from destroying Xandar, inspiring Rocket and Drax to do likewise so all four of them could absorb a quarter of Star-Lord's pain, so he could retain enough of his strength to singlehandedly annihilate Ronan the Accuser while she watched happily.
- She assured Drax that his kin would rest peacefully with the knowledge they had been avenged.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2[]
- Realizing how much Peter wanted a father, she convinced him to give Ego a chance (she didn't know he was secretly evil, but her intentions counted).
- She fought off Nebula when she returned and saved her life in spite of her having just tried to shoot her repeatedly, and she called her out for her empty boasts that she'd just bested her. She also didn't hold it against her that she had the nerve to choke her right after she saved her from getting crushed to death.
- She helped stop Ego's plan to expand himself across the universe and refused to leave Star-Lord behind and escape an imminent explosion until Rocket had to taze her for her own good.
- She forgave Nebula for their past enmity after she realized she was trying to be better.
Avengers: Infinity War[]
- She answered Thor's distress call, being invested in saving lives than getting paid unlike Quill, Rocket, and Drax.
- While she gets angry at Peter after he told her to stop touching Thor's muscles, this is justified since he was being an insecure jerk that was demanding it of her specifically and not Mantis and Drax as well.
- She went to Knowhere to stop Thanos from getting the Reality Stone.
- She was willing to let Peter shoot her to prevent Thanos from getting the Soul Stone.
- She eventually revealed the location of the stone to stop Nebula from being tortured and murdered, making her subsequent escape possible.
- She almost sacrificed herself a second time when she tried to stab herself with a knife to deny Thanos the Soul Stone on Vormir.
- She was the most acceptant of Thanos' victory, seeming to hold no grudge against him and asking how he felt about the sacrifices he made to do so.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She slightly fails the astronomical admirable standard of the MCU, as her most noble acts were shared with her allies and Star-Lord played a much more direct role in defeating both Ronan and Ego. However, she was willing to sacrifice herself to harness the Power Stone and later to prevent Thanos from finding the Soul Stone, so she comes very close to passing.
- Despite subverting most of her corrupting qualities, she is still lethal to a minor degree since she threatened to kill Mantis while questioning her about Ego, for which she never showed any remorse even after Mantis joined the Guardians.
