~ Hunter talking to the now-deceased Flapjack, before going back to the Demon Realm |
Flapjack is a supporting character in Disney's fantasy-adventure animated series, The Owl House.
He is a palismen carved by Evelyn Clawthorne for her lover, Caleb Wittebane. After Caleb's unfortunate death at the hands of his own brother, Flapjack became an orphan palisman under the care of the Bat Queen. That is, until he met Luz Noceda, and later Hunter, during a mission of both of them to save the Palismen from Kikimora and ended up finding a new owner and best friend in Hunter, who, unknown to them, is a grimwalker of Caleb himself.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He chose Hunter as his new owner and was one of the first things that made his life in the Emperor's Coven happier.
- He accompanied Hunter through Eclipse Lake, trying to cheer up Hunter when he was depressed and had given up, and going to Amity's shoulder when she offered him the benefit of the doubt and a chance of redemption, asking for Hunter to listen to her.
- While him helping Hunter led to him obtaining the Portal Key which contained the Titan's Blood and giving it to Emperor Belos, it was because he wanted to protect Hunter, not because he agreed with the plan.
- He helped Hunter blend in in Hexside, giving him a fake name (as revealed later, his former owner's name), again not because he agreed with his plan but, in this case, because he wanted Hunter to have friends.
- He followed Eda and King to the Owl House when Hunter and Luz became stuck in the Emperor's mindscape, to keep in contact with Hunter.
- He helped Hunter survive days hidden in Hexside after he left the Emperor's Coven.
- He helped Hunter fight the Coven Scouts in Hexside.
- He flew in very high speed in an attempt to save a falling Hunter, only to Willow to save him first.
- He helped Hunter fight Emperor Belos and protect his friends in his staff form.
- He, just like the rest of the palismen, made company and cheered his owner up during their stay in the Human Realm.
- He pecked the Old House's floor until it cracked, looking for Evelyn's Titan's Blood, succeeding and making Amity trip on it, thus kickstarting the search for Titan's Blood that allowed the Hexsquad to go back to the Isles save everyone from the Collector.
- He transformed in a staff to allow Luz to fight a Belos-possessed Hunter.
- He, in a futile attempt to get Belos off Hunter's body, attacked him by pecking, leading to him getting fatally wounded, this being what allowed Hunter to regain partial control of his body.
- As Hunter was barely hanging onto life, a wounded Flapjack sat on his chest and willingly gave him his lifeforce, saving Hunter's life and sacrificing his own in the process.
- His sacrifice also gave Hunter a part of his magic, allowing him to save Willow and Gus from Willow's own vines, and from Luz's accidental blast.
- He is one of the biggest influences in Hunter's redemption, alongside his parental figure Darius, and best friend and later girlfriend Willow, being his first true companion that, despite sometimes helping in his schemes for Hunter's sake, helped him change for the better, have new friends and become the good person he currently is.
- Despite the high Admirable Standards, he still stands out due to lower resources and being one of the few characters to sacrifice themselves.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He suffers from Insufficient Characterization, since he cannot speak, and the only time we're told what he means with his "chirps" are him telling his own name and suggesting the Caleb alias.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the two The Owl House Near Pure Goods that aren't a witch, alongside his owner, Hunter (who is a Grimwalker).
