Finn Merterns, also known as Finn the Human, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Jake the Dog) of the Adventure Time franchise.
He is seemingly the last remaining normal human in the land of OOO. He and his best friend/adoptive brother, Jake the Dog go on many adventures together, with some even being dangerous and life-risking. Eventually, Finn is revealed not to be the last human, as more humans appear throughout the series later on.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He is always there for his friends and is willing to help them out.
- He is usually nice and friendly towards those around him.
- Saved Princess Bubblegum from the Ice King many times.
- Often helped multiple creatures at the land of Ooo.
- When the Lich was first released, he attacked him with Jake as a sword to try to incapacitate him.
- He defeats the Lich for the first time with the "power of liking someone a lot".
- Stopped the Lich from destroying all life.
- He made Abraham Lincoln see he made a mistake and bring Jake back to life, after mistakenly executing him in place of the magic man.
- He foiled the Lich's attempted universal genocide by defeating him with the healing blood of a Citadel Guardian.
- He tried to defeat Orgalorg with Jake, to prevent him from continuing his planet destroying habits.
- Defeated the Earl of Lemongrab along with Princess Bubblegum, Jake, and others.
- Is always willing to sacrifice or put himself in harm's way to save his friends.
- Despite his former bad deeds, he was very saddened to see Fern die away.
- When he saw Marceline being rude to an old henchman of hers, he decided to take his place despite Marceline warning him he would be henchman for life.
- Despite their former rivalry, he helped the Ice King find Gunter when he was taken by Betty Grof.
- On his trip to the Islands saved several of the remaining humans to be connected to computers, convincing them to abandon the system oppressor of the Islands and so they will return to Ooo.
- Together with Jake, Ice King and Betty They gathered the gems they needed to restore Ooo after the elemental curse .
- Deciphered in the Enchiridion that Lumpy Space Princess was the Anti-Elemental to save Ooo.
- He took care of Sweet P who had nightmares about the Lich. Later realizing the presence of the Lich decides to stop him to avoid a terrible disaster.
- He genuinely apologized to Flame Princess for manipulating her and Ice King to fighting each other, showing he had grown up, which Flame Princess told him in response.
- Influenced positively on Sweet P to prevent him from being corrupted by the Lich.
- He tried to help his time anomaly counterpart Fern to find his place in the world and always supported him. Even when Fern turned against him he tried to reason with him.
- Although he temporarily killed Fern , this was an accident and he was deeply hurt by it. This got to the point where he wasn't able to finish off any monsters due to the remorse.
- He did his best to support Bonnibel after the return of her evil uncle Gumbald.
- He tried to stop Gumbald and Bonniebel by reasoning with them to avoid a war that surely would devastate Ooo.
- He locked himself in with Bonnibel, Gumbald, Jake and Fern for reason with them in a dream. This was successful in convince Bonnibel that war was not make her empathize with Gumbald.
- He help Fern get rid of the Grass Spider Octopus that tormented him and at the same time managed to redeem him.
- When GOLB arrived at Ooo stayed so he could stop him.
- When the Ice King and Betty fierce treated by GOLB, he followed them with the intention of helping them.
- Feeling useless for not being able to do anything about it GOLB, lament all and expressed that he believed he would die saving someone.
- After leaving GOLB, years later he continued to be a hero even after Jake's death.
- He comforted and tried to help a depressed Simon Petrikov.
- After his death, was glad to knowing that I would see Jake again. Despite his desperation indirectly caused trouble was not his intention.
- He together Jake joined Tiffany in order to stop to the corrupt New Death, who was going to cut the cycle of reincarnation (and of life).

- Although he fought brutally against Jake, It was to prevent him from sacrificing himself . Fortunately Mr. Fox was the one who defeated the New Death and not even Finn nor Jake took the place of Death.
- Decided to reincarnate to be ready for the World Dead 50 and so be able to accompany to Jake, being more patient
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be quite selfish and reckless at times, which ends up putting his friends in danger, such as when he manipulated Flame Princess and Ice King into fighting each other all just because he had a “croak dream” and wanted to see it play out in real life, causing the destruction of the Ice Kingdom temporarily, or when he ignored the plight of the Lemon Children to try to woo Princess Bubblegum. While he becomes more mature and gains more self-control and restraint as the series goes on, he never completely subverts this trait and it shows up again from time to time.
- He still had a few lethal moments that were never subverted fully, such as attempting to kill Ice King by throwing a sword at him for accidentally harming Princess Bubblegum, planning to rip off his dad's arm for abandoning him, and causing three monsters to come out of BMO's head, causing a huge hole in the side of it, and being slightly unapologetic after the 3 monsters attempt to kill him.
- He can be jerkish, such as when he sells out Rattleballs to Princess Bubblegum despite hearing that she killed nearly all of the Rattleballs.

- He is currently the only "Adventure Time" character to be approved as Near Pure Good.
