Mistress Fauna (also known as Aunt Fauna or just Fauna for short) is one of the three major characters of Disney's 1959 animated film, Sleeping Beauty. She is one of the Three Good Fairies, along with Merryweather and Flora.
In the original film, she was voiced by the late Barbara Jo Allen and by the late Russi Taylor from 2002 until her death in 2019.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She is the quiet and introspective fairy and somewhat acts as a peacemaker between Flora and Merryweather.
- She attends King Stefan's christening birth of the baby princess, Aurora and blesses her with the Gift of Song.
- She and Flora encouraged Merryweather to use her gift to soften Maleficent's curse on Aurora, giving hope to Stefan, Queen Leah, and the other kingdom subjects and residents.
- While having tea with Flora and Merryweather, Fauna suggests that they should just reason with Maleficent, claiming she "can't be all bad", though Flora rejects this idea for a good reason.
- She and Merryweather follows Flora's idea to help disguise themselves as peasant women in order to hide Aurora away from Maleficent and her evil deeds.
- She helps plan Aurora's surprise party for her sixteenth birthday by sending Aurora to pick up berries and instructing her not to speak to strangers, due to the threat of Maleficent's curse.
- When Merryweather insisted that they should use magic to help clean up the room, Fauna told Flora that Merryweather is correct, as the latter told them of how Aurora would react if she saw the mess.
- After Merryweather and Flora's arguments of the color of Aurora's gown, Fauna told them to stop fighting as they knew that Aurora is coming back to the cottage.
- She and the other fairies express their regret for upsetting Aurora about the fact that she can never see the man she met in the woods, not knowing that he’s actually her betrothed.
- Though no avail, she helps Flora and Merryweather in their failed attempt to prevent Aurora from pricking her finger by Maleficent's orders.
- She, along with her sisters, feel very ashamed of themselves for leaving Aurora alone and failing to prevent her from being tricked by Maleficent to prick the spinning wheel.
- She, along with Flora and Merryweather, casted a powerful sleeping spell on the kingdom in order to prevent them from being heartbroken about Aurora's curse by Maleficent, though it may be a strange decision.
- Thanks to King Hubert's sleepy conversation with King Stefan, she and Merryweather learned from Flora that Hubert's son is the same man Aurora had met in the woods.
- After Prince Phillip got captured by Maleficent and her goons, Fauna, along with Flora and Merryweather, is determined to save Prince Phillip, since he is the only one who can help save Aurora and the whole kingdom from their sleeping spell.
- She, along with Flora and Merryweather, assisted Phillip in defeating Maleficent and allowing him to save Aurora, their respective parents, and everyone else in the kingdom.
- After Maleficent's own death, Fauna still helps Aurora out with her needs, as shown in Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams.
- She went with Flora and Merryweather to deliver the speech King Hubert forgot for the royal conference.
- At the end of the segment, she and her sisters, along with King Stefan, King Hubert, Prince Phillip, Queen Leah and Lord Duke, are shown to be attending Aurora's royal banquet at the end of the first segment.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Just like with two of her sisters, Fauna can be somewhat reckless and incompetent at times, as shown when she and her two sisters left Aurora alone, which gave Maleficent the chance to lure Aurora away and trick her into pricking her finger on the spinning wheel.
- However, she did regret her mistake of leaving Aurora out of their sight, making this prevention weak.
