Eragon Bromsson or only Eragon is the main protagonist of the Inheritance series and the 2006 adaptation film of the same name.

He was the son of the veteran Rider Brom, who was known for founding the resistance known as the Varden and slaying the thirteen Forsworn, including their leader, Morzan, servant of the tyrannical King Galbatorix. Fifteen years after his birth, Eragon found a blue dragon egg in the Spine, which soon hatched into a female dragon named Saphira, who was bound to him. Eragon and Saphira eventually joined the Varden and seek to defeat Galbatorix and return the land of Algaeasia to peace.

In the film he was portrayed by Ed Speleers.

  • He is upset when he finds Garou dying due to the Ra'zac and after his death he vows to avenge them.
  • He does indeed leave his village and his cousin, but this was to protect them (although later the king sends soldiers after them).
  • Besides Brom is looking for the Ra'zac's hideout to take revenge on them.

  • He completely disowns Morzan, despite the possibility that he is his father.
  • He helps Roran to rescue Katrina from Ra'zac and helps to defeat them.

  • He tries to save the city from destruction.
  • He guards Nasuada from her enemies, including from King Orin.
  • He decides to leave Alageiza with young dragon eggs for their training.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He is wrathful at times such as after Oromis and Glaedr withheld information about his parents, anger at one of the elves he trained with who underestimated Saphira as well as well as at dwarves who accompanied him to visit the elves, and is childishly argumentative when Nasuada sends him on an errand, even if his self-training was burdening him.
  • He has some lethal moments such as looking for the last chase of the Ra'zac, during which time his allies are waiting for him and also tried to kill many Urgals with magic, which almost caused him to die from over-exerting his magical powers. He also tried to kill the dwarves of Az Sweldn rak Anhûin even before they attacked. However most of these situations were clearly self-defense so it is only a minor prevention.
