Elita-1 is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Bumblebee) of the 2024 animated film Transformers One. She is Orion Pax and D-16's former boss in the mining sector before she was fired as a result of Orion saving Jazz's life, afterwards getting accidentally dragged into the two miners' efforts to find the Matrix of Leadership.
She is voiced by Scarlett Johansson.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While she was the supervisor of the miners, she had a spotless record with no accidents and always made sure those under her supervision were safe.
- When Wheeljack accidentally caused the Energon mine to collapse, she had all the miners evacuate. While she did insist on leaving Jazz behind, out of following a protocol that was morally wrong, she bought Orion and D-16 the necessary time to make it out alive by using a support pole to keep the mine from collapsing. Elita's refusal to allow Orion to rescue Jazz got her fired by Darkwing and reassigned to waste management.
- After being demoted, she tried to stay in line in her new job as to not cause any trouble and upon finding Orion and D-16, along with B-127 trespassing on a train passport, she tried to sabotage their mission to stop them from going to the surface, though also partly out of anger over her demotion.
- Being left with no choice, she agreed to join the search for the Matrix of Leadership, taking command of the situation. While she did only join at first for pragmatic reasons, after discovering the truth behind Sentinel, her intentions become much more genuine, and she truly wants to help free Iacon.
- After reviving Alpha Trion and being told the truth regarding the Primes' deaths and Sentinel's government, she and the others vow to take him down and free Iacon, being given T-Cogs by Trion along with the evidence.
- Upon being captured by the High Guard and witnessing D-16 and Starscream's duel, she joined the fight against Airachnid and the Death Trackers to protect her friends and the Guard.
- After the fight, she digs Orion out of the rubble after he saved her from being shot by one of the Trackers, showing a sign of gratitude to him for saving her.
- Despite not (fully) getting over for what happened to them in the mines, she motivated Orion by pointing out how his optimism and desire to build a better world are what put them on the quest in the first place, complimenting his leadership and inspiring him to rally the High Guard and later the Miners.
- While she did punch Shockwave in his eye, she only did it in order to get him, Soundwave and the high guard to listen to Orion's plan and out of karma for threatening Orion, coercing him into following Pax to battle and stop Sentinel.
- She, Shockwave and Soundwave commandered a garbage train in order to sneak the High Guard down into Iacon for a sneak attack on Sentinel's forces.
- She fights Airachnid head on after the latter attacked her first, incapacitating her and dragging her back to the tower to use her memories in order to expose Sentinel's deceit to all of Iacon. To ensure she was helpless, she removed all Airachnid's spider-legs.
- When D-16 accidentally kills and then later betrays Orion by letting him fall into the Allspark out of spite for not letting him kill Sentinel, she desperately tries to reach out and save him only to be held back by B, showing that despite her major flaws with him, she generally cared for Orion and didn't wanted him to die a horrible death.
- After witnessing D-16 execute Sentinel and rechristen himself as Megatron as he orders his followers to destroy the city, she and Bee jumped in to try to stop him from taking any more lives.
- After Orion returned as Optimus Prime and defeated Megatron, she joined his Autobot forces as Second-In-Command and right-hand lady after Optimus repurposed her with a promotion that he accidentally robbed from her originally.
- While she may not be as admirable as Optimus Prime, she manages to stand out due to having far less resources than any of the heroes since she's the only one not to have any build-in weapons after getting her cog from Trion and only has her strengths and intelligence to help Orion and his friends to take down Sentinel. Additionally, had it not been for her, Orion wouldn't have became the Prime he is today.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Good?[]
- She is prone to anger and aggression, particularly towards Orion in the beginning, showcasing several unpleasant moments throughout her interactions without ever apologizing. For example:
- She was more concerned with being fired than about the fact that Jazz was almost killed in a cave-in.
- She violently attacked three male bots for attempting to trespass on the Energon train, claiming she was on a mission to "ruin" Orion Pax's life for getting her fired.
- She punched Orion in the face when he tried to check if she was alright after they were thrown off the train.
- She forcefully demanded that Orion agree to turn himself in after their mission if it failed, while depicting herself in a "positive light" during a fit of rage and referring to him, B-127, and D-16 derisively as GoBots.
- During an interrogation by the High Guard, she called Orion incompetent and showed no empathy when Starscream was beaten by D-16 until he unlocked his Fusion Cannon in an attempt to kill him.
- She began a pep talk to Orion by claiming she was "better than him in every way," much to his annoyance, though she elaborated the one way he was better than her was that he had hope.
- She punched Shockwave in the eye and later threatened to do it again to him, Soundwave, and the remaining High Guard for following Orion and threatening him.
- She violently struck Airachnid with one of her spider legs and then repeatedly hit her in the head with it, ignoring Orion's orders not to break her. However, her actions were mostly justified due to Airachnid's sadistic and irredeemable nature, and made sure not to kill her.
Trivia[]
- She's one of the three characters from Transformers One to be Near Pure Good, with the other two consisting of B-127/Bumblebee and Primus.
- In an interview with the director, Josh Cooley, he stated that they really wanted Scarlett Johansson's character of Elita-1 to be important to the growth of Orion Pax becoming Optimus Prime and not just a character off to the side. With him being aware that in some of the continuities of the franchise, they are indeed a couple, highlighting her NPG status.
- In one of the original storyboards for the film, Alpha Trion was originally going to give Orion the successful (albeit jerkish) pep-talk to not give up on saving Cybertron after it was revealed that he survived and the heroes were captured by Sentinel, where Elita is unhappy to see him and even wishes death on him. Had this been kept in the final film, Elita would not have qualified as NPG since she wouldn't have been the one to give Orion the push to keep going.
- She's also the only version of Elita-1 to be NPG so far.
