Edalyn "Eda" Clawthorne is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside King Clawthorne) of the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House.
She is a infamous witch outlaw from Boiling Isles, who was hunted by Emperor's Coven and her sister Lilith for refusing to follow the Coven System. While living the life of a powerful and feared criminal, she would later on meet King, the last of the Titans whom she would adopt, and Luz Noceda from the Human Realm, who would become her apprentice, something that would change her life for better.
She is voiced by Wendie Malick and Dee Bradley Baker in her curse form. She was also voiced by Abigail Zoe Lewis when she was a child, and Natalie Palamides as a teen.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While she started out with many corrupting qualities to the point of being an anti-hero, she managed to shed most of them as the series went on.
- Her attacks as the Owl Beast are unintentional and out of her control, and even then, she always felt remorse for blinding one of her father's eyes during one of her rampages.
Background[]
- She and Lilith used be very close as children and were always helping each other, like when Eda at once created an abomination army to get back at a bully who stole Lilith's money for lunch.
- She and Raine stood up to Terra Snapdragon's segregational games and attacked her, even though that meant she wouldn't get a ribbon and would be expelled from Hexside.
- She refused to fight with Lilith over the only place in the Emperor's Coven, knowing how much it meant for her sister.
- She took King under her wing after saving him from Jean Luc (his protector who she mistook for an attacker), and raised him as her best friend. She also lied to him that he was the King of Demons to make him happy, due to being all alone on his island.
Season 1[]
- She and Luz got King's crown back from the Conformatorium.
- She saved Luz from Adegast, and then gave her a lesson on how to make herself special.
- She and King stopped the Trash Slug from destroy the Owl House.
- She tried to train Luz when she challenged Amity to a witches' duel and even if she did try to win by cheating, not only Lilith (Amity's mentor) resorted to cheating as well, but Luz was a human with inferior/non-existing magical powers.
- While searching for more elixir for her curse, she saved King from being enslaved by Tibbles.
- After seeing how much Luz wants to be in Hexside, she undid all her pranks from her youth and made many tasks for Principal Bump in order to have her enrolled.
- She helped Luz connect with the Isles and learn the Ice Glyph, which she would later use to save her, Edric and Emira Blight from the slitherbeast. Even if she was harsh on Luz, this was because the latter stubbornly refused to listen to Eda.
- She saved Luz, King, Willow and Gus from being killed by Tibbles after he shrunk them.
- She sent Luz and Amity into Willow's mind to restore it after Amity inadvertently burnt down Willow's memories.
- She gave her ring to Lilith after Eda fairly won the grudgby game so she wouldn't be punished by Emperor Belos.
- She sacrificed the last of her magic to save Luz from being killed by Lilith.
- Even when she was about to be petrified, Eda told Luz to return to the Human Realm and destroy the portal to prevent Emperor Belos from using it for evil.
- While she did want to kill Lilith before being petrified, it was an understandable heating-up moment, and when King revealed that Lilith cursing her was a mistake she's been trying to undo the whole time, she eventually forgave her.
Season 2[]
- She didn't hold any grudges towards Luz for indirectly causing her to become powerless, and told her she made her life so much better, when Luz confessed her constantly blaming herself for that.
- She and Luz faked the Selkidomus' murder to save King from the Golden Guard.
- She helped fight Jean Luc before realizing he wanted to protect King. After which, she confessed the truth to King and apologized for this. She would later even tear up after learning that he's legally her son now.
- While she refused to reunite with her mother and even gets rid of her since she understandably doesn't need her help of getting rid of her curse since none of her methods are working and later was rightfully upset and furious at her when she almost inadvertently killed her with the help of Luz, she later made peace with her after Gwen, Luz and King worked together to turn her and Lilith back to normal.
- She, the Bat Queen and Principal Bump held Palismen adoption day to give homeless palismen to Hexside students.
- She and King stole a piece of Palistrom wood so Luz could carve her own palisman.
- She helped Raine and their rebel group, Bards Against the Throne, save several covenless witches from the Emperor's Coven. On one such mission, she was more than willing to sacrifice herself to kill Darius and Eberwolf (who were suspicious of Belos' plans too, but neither she nor Raine knew this) to stop whatever Belos has planned on the Day of Unity, until Raine talked her down to return to Luz and King.
- She made peace with the Owl Beast after discovering that it was an innocent creature that got trapped in the scroll by one of the Collectors. This resulted in her unlocking her new harpy form and mostly taking control over her curse.
- She saved King from falling to death before the two of them stalled a hysterical Hooty long enough for Luz and Amity to ask each other out. She also showed gratitude to Hooty for helping her unlock her harpy form.
- Despite being nonchalant of Luz's health, she tried to assure Amity that the common mold wasn't serious for Luz.
- She, Amity and King went on the Knee to get the Titan's Blood for the new portal.
- She, King and Hooty pulled Luz out from In-Between Realm, when her makeshift portal was collapsing.
- She made peace with her father, whom he did not hold any grudges against her for unintentionally scarring one of his eyes.
- She made a Blabber Serum to get information on Raine's behavior and the Day of Unity from Warden Wrath. She also supported the low self-esteemed Edric Blight after he helped her, saying he's got a future at wild magic.
- She saved Luz and Hunter from Belos' mindscape.
- While she didn't want Luz to get involved in the fight against Belos, it was because she was thinking of her safety, and eventually allowed her to help.
- She allowed herself to be branded with Coven sigil and replace Raine according to CAT's plan, so her curse could corrupt Belos' Draining Spell, nearly managing to save thousands, if not millions of witches and demons, from the painful extraction of magic.
Season 3[]
- She and Lilith tried to help King into talking some sense into the Collector, even going as far as to congratulate him on how he's matured.
- Despite the Collector putting her, Luz and King through a series of deadly games they were barely able to pass, they all showed sympathy to him after learning his backstory before teaching him about kindness and forgiveness, redeeming him in process.
- After Luz's sacrifice for the Collector, she politely told the child to stand back, while she and King fought Belos' monstrous form.
- She, King and Raine stalled Belos' mold long enough for Luz to rip him out from the Titan's heart, saving the Boiling Isles from destruction. While they later killed Belos when he was in a rather defenceless state, it was justified because they all knew he would continue to pose a threat to everything and everyone should he be spared.
- She and King saved Luz from a potentially lethal fall after she no longer had the Titan's powers and returned to her original form.
- She and other Boiling Isles residents threw a quinceañera for Luz as gratitude for everything she did to people of the Isles.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- While she did shed the most drastic aspects of her personality, she still felt no remorse for all of her pranks at Hexside (which she only undid so Luz could get into the school), being rude to Hooty even when he is just trying to be friendly, or teasing Lilith about leaving her alone "with her guilt for cursing" her (which was a very delicate topic for her).
- She is sometimes too brutish, if not somewhat lethal towards her enemies, such as eating a defeated Adegast, asking where is Hunter so she could beat him up during the trip to Eclipse Lake, threatening Warden Wrath for information about the Day of Unity and Raine Whispers' behavior, before deciding to make a Blabber Serum to force-feed him against his will when she was told that fighting wasn't allowed outside of the Bonesborough Brawl fighting ring, and threatening him for information again when that failed, or being amused at Hooty brutally beating up the Emperor Scouts (including her sister) outside of the Owl House.
Trivia[]
- Eda is the only one of those who directly confronted Belos in the final battle who is not PG, as Luz, King and Raine all are.
- Because Dana Terrace is open to continuing the series in the future, if Disney lets her, there is a possibility that her status could be affected.
