What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?

• He is shown to be very caring towards his family and friends.
• He acts as the voice of reason, as he usually convinces his peers to do the right thing.
• He learns from his mistakes and becomes wiser and more confident as a result.
• When he sees himself or someone else accused of a crime not committed by them, Doug is the one to solve the issue.
  • For example, when his pet dog Porkchop was accused for biting Beebe when, in reality, he was trying to save her from falling into the ice, Doug goes out of his way to prove his innocence.
• In Doug's 1st Movie, he saves the mutated lizard Herman from being thrown into the toxic Lucky Duck Lake by Bill Bluff by taking him to the pollution-free Crystal Lake, even if it means being threatened by Bluff to be tortured by him.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?

• He can be an insensitive and selfish jerk at times.
  • His biggest jerkish moment is when he belittles Skeeter for being a know-it-all because he is jealous of the latter's genius IQ. This jealousy nearly damages his friendship with Skeeter before he realizes his mistake.
  • His selfishness occurs when he took advantage of his friends by having them overworking for long hours just so he can make enough money to buy himself a skateboard.
  • During the first half of Doug's 1st Movie, he was more concerned about impressing Patti and did so by using Herman. Thankfully, he eventually comes to prioritizing Herman's safety over getting Patti.
