Near Pure Good Hero Wiki

It's not brightly-colored or shaped like a dinosaur. Hold on, guys... it's broccoli!
~ Disgust
Well, I just saved our lives. Yeah, you're welcome.
~ Disgust

Disgust is a major character in the Inside Out franchise. She is the green emotion that embodies disgust towards anything revulsive and one of Riley's primary emotions.

In the first film and Riley's First Date, she was voiced by Mindy Kaling. As of Inside Out 2, she is voiced by Liza Lapira. In the Korean dub, she’s dubbed by Lee Ji-hyun, who also dubbed for Erza Scarlet.

Her Good Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]

Inside Out[]

  • She tries to always keep Riley safe from being poisoned physically and socially in her own way and often tries to make her fit in with others and have a good social life.
  • She and the other emotions agreed to let Joy try to make Riley happy after a talk with her mom.
  • She tried to make Riley fit in at her school by making sure she looked good and knowing when to approach popular kids.
  • She and the others tried to prevent Sadness from accidentally turning any memories sad.
  • After Joy and Sadness got sucked into the subconscious, she tried to pretend to be Joy so that Riley could be happy around her parents.
  • When Anger proposed the idea to run away, she tried to argue but was swayed fast as she believed it would make Riley able to make happy memories again.
  • After the group collectively decided to not run away, they all tried to get the idea out of Riley's head.
  • When Joy and Sadness crashed into the Headquarters' window and nearly fell to the dump, she intentionally provoked Anger so that he could flare up and she could use his flames to melt the window, allowing both of the emotions back inside.
  • She helped Riley make new Core Memories by working with the other emotions

Inside Out 2[]

  • She continued to do her job and help Riley be safe from being poisoned.
  • After Riley's Sense of Self manifested and Joy installed a system to be able to send bad memories away, Disgust helped with it and also helped choose which memories were sent down to the sense of self to spawn new beliefs.
  • After the console was seemingly broken, she and the others agreed to not use it unless necessary as to not cause any overreactions on Riley's part; Disgust prevented Anger from making Riley possibly snap at Val when she innocently confused her coming from Michigan than Minnesota.
  • While she was apprehensive of the other Emotions when they first showed up, she was willing to give them a chance after Anxiety's plan to win Val over worked.
  • When Anxiety sent Riley's Sense of Self to the subconscious, she tried to stop her from making a new one with dangerous and anxious beliefs.
  • She motivated Lance Slashblade to get over his insecurities and help them escape the secret vault. This also helped him defeat the Mind Police (even if accidentally) and lock them in a vault, allowing the Emotions to escape.
  • She and the others went to look for Riley's sense of self.
  • Despite being disgusted by broccoli, she agreed to use one as transportation to get to the Sense of Self.
  • She helped Joy inspire the Mind Workers to stand up to Anxiety and get rid of all her negative outcomes by replacing them with positive ones.
  • She tried to grab unto some of the ideas in the brainstorm in order to get back to Headquarters.
  • She helped call for Pouchy and later helped set up the dynamite so they could use the memory avalanche to go back to Headquarters through the subconscious flow even if she thought the plan was crazy.
  • After getting back, she tried to help the other emotions in taking out the new Sense of Self Anxiety had made in an attempt to stop Riley's anxiety attack.
  • She and the other emotions chose to let Riley be herself and embraced her true Sense of Self made from all her memories, both good and bad.
  • She forgave the other emotions and accepted them into Headquarters and even served as a role model for Envy.

What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]

  • She has several instances of being a jerk to the other emotions and the people in Riley's life.
    • In the Mind Candy short, she insulted Anger by saying his face made her barf.
    • She mockingly congratulated Sadness for turning a memory sad.
    • She was very pessimistic towards Fear when she was trying his best to keep Riley happy in Joy's absence and rebutted all of his and Anger's ideas with sarcastic comments.
    • She tried to stop Joy from getting Riley to help Grace at first claiming she was a "social titanic".

Trivia[]

  • Disgust, along with Fear, is one of the two characters from the Inside Out franchise to be Near Pure Good.
  • She is currently the only original female emotion in Riley's mind to not be Pure Good, as both Joy and Sadness qualify as such.
