Dick Gumshoe is a supporting character in the Ace Attorney franchise being promoted to a sidekick in the Miles Edgeworth: Investigations Game.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He helps investigate many intense and exhausting crime scenes and is always ready to provide support with a smile on his face. Even when he refuses access to Phoenix Wright, he's merely following instructions and is perfectly willing to offer insight in the bounds of his orders.
- He shows kindness to animals, pampering and taking care of Missile despite his subpar living conditions and low salary. The dog and him have a very close bond, and explicit animal nurturers are rare in the series.
- He is good with children. When Kay Faraday's father is killed, Gumshoe shares his food with her and keeps the young girl company, offering sympathy and support during her difficult time, even lying to preserve her dignity. When this makes the two of them look suspicious, he apologizes and immediately clears things up, while reassuring Kay that she did nothing wrong.
- He is staunchly loyal to Edgeworth. Despite the prosecutor not always treating him well, Gumshoe is nothing but kind to him, always willing to help him no matter what. He is polite and helpful to him, complimenting and assisting him no matter what.
- He is selfless. Despite his low salary and lack of resources, he puts others before himself and is willing to offer everything at his disposal to help others, even those who nobody else is willing to support.
- He cares deeply for Maggey Bryde. Due to his crush on her, he is reluctant to testify against her, and apologizes when forced to do so, only stating the facts they have without accusing her. When she is arrested, he personally requests for Phoenix Wright to defend her and bakes weenies for her to cheer her up, despite barely being able to afford ramen noodles.
- When Dee Vasquez summons mobsters to kill Phoenix and Maya, he rushes in to rescue them.
- He temporarily gives up his job to help Phoenix rescue Maya, even offering to be his cook without asking for much pay. He goes out of his way to help with the rescue, finding important evidence that allowed Phoenix to prove Engarde as the real culprit while saving Maya and Adrian at the same time.
- He doesn't hold grudges, willing to forgive those who wrong him and allow them to change into better people. Even when people are mean to him, he doesn't hold it against them and lacks any malice towards them.
- He helps take down an international smuggling ring which almost destroyed the country of Zheng Fa and Allebahst. He shows remorse for having to arrest his mentor, only doing so because it's his job.
- He helps rescue Shaun Fenn after the boy is kidnapped by Simeon Saint, offering the boy his jacket and some milk. This is done with him knowing that a dangerous criminal could kill him at any time.
- He helps Edgeworth take down Simeon Saint by bringing in the balloon that Simon supposedly killed the body double of the Zheng-Fa president with, allowing Miles to get the decisive piece of evidence to arrest Simeon by linking the pollen on the balloon basket, to the pollen on the body doubles clothes.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He sometimes inadvertently causes problems due to being mildly incompetent. Despite all the heroic deeds he does, he sometimes makes things worse due to stupid decisions. This doesn't negate much from his actions though.
- He is a bit arrogant when he testifies in Apollo Justice in the flashback case.
