| “ | A wolf and a fox are not so different. Maybe they will believe you maybe they won't but it doesn't matter don't do it for them do it for you. This is a chance to write your own story for you and your friends. Come on what do you got to lose? | „ |
| ~ Diane advising Wolf to redeem himself and his friends for the better. |
| “ | I didn't just go after it...I HAD it, and a clear escape route, but what I saw in the end was the tricky fox they always told me I was. It changed everything. So, now, instead of hurting people, I’m helping them. I’m still me. I’m just me on the right side. You’re doing the right thing. And someday your friends, if they’re real friends, I think they’ll understand. | „ |
| ~ Diane explaining to Wolf why she changed her ways. |
Diane Foxington is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Mr. Snake) of DreamWorks' The Bad Guys franchise, based on the book series by Aaron Blabey. She used to be the one of the best thieves in the world but gave up her criminal life and started to help others, and eventually become governor.
She is voiced by Zaize Beetz.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
The Bad Guys[]
- She is reluctant at first to Marmalade's good training but eventually allows it (even though she didn't know it was a trap at the time).
- She talks to Wolf on her way out to the car about becoming good for him and his friends.
- She doesn't call the chief after a misunderstanding on the news (though she was upset).
- She brings back all the stolen loot to their rightful owners the bad guys stole.
- She shows empathy towards Wolf after losing his friends.
- She tries to stop Wolf from a trap, even if they both get electrocuted.
- She goes with Webs to hack the trucks so they can bring the stolen money from Marmalade back to charity.
- She stands up to the bad guys in order to reduce their chance to get arrested by trying to say her true identity (but Wolf stops her by saying The Crimson Paw, so she didn't have to go to jail).
The Bad Guys 2[]
- Diane saved Wolf from being brutally murdered by an enraged Kitty, as she attacks Kitty with much more justified furious rage, making Kitty scared, and painfully beats her up until she was knocked unconscious.
- Her violent berserk attack on Kitty is validly justified, after Kitty exposed her identity, not only to hold up her end of the deal for Marmalade but for her own entertainment, smugly smiled at her devastation seeing her hard work destroyed and cowardly tranquillizes her while she was distracted and for unnecessarily hurting Wolf when he was forced to help her and later when he destroyed her hard work back, as she pathetically self-pity’s herself and tries to kill him, which made Diane snap and hurt her back to see how she likes it and to make her pay for everything she did.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Good?[]
- Even though she rescued the bad guys from jail, taking out dozens of more guards wasn't really self-defense, in short, she had some mischievous tendencies on the guards, to the point the guards got more than what they deserved. She also gleefully brutalizes Wolf during combat training, showing she has still not subverted her aggression in the sequel.
- She also isn't fully redeemed from her past thievery even while she ultimately averts into her new life of heroism which is proven by these points:
- She stole a getaway boat from the prison in the film, as well as Wolf's car (but Wolf's car could be minor because she did so just to bring it back).
- She also kept the Zumpango Diamond she stole years back because she was sentimental.
- While Kitty exposing her past thievery is messed up, it's also her own fault for not being truthful in the first place.
Trivia[]
- She is one of the four redeemed villains of DreamWorks to be NPG (The other three being Mr. Wolf, Megamind and Zhen).
- Although she is based on Ellen from the books they share many differences, including the fact that Ellen was never a thief, and works with International League of Heroes, rather than being a politician alone.
- She was originally approved as Pure Good, but was rejected because it was proven that she didn't subvert all of her villainous qualities even though she ultimately turned herself into heroism, so she was scaled as Near Pure Good instead.
- Though she is currently Near Pure Good, there's a chance she could shed all of her corrupting factors and become PG in the third film.
