There's a reason we're supposed to be afraid of this night.
~ Hawkins on Michael Myers.
That night... that you were attacked... It's not your fault. It's mine. It was an accident. I was lost in my own regret. I saw that look in Loomis' eyes. All he wanted was more blight, more death... I couldn't take it and in that moment, all I could think is inside that monster, it was somebody's baby boy.
~ Hawkins's speech as he explains to Laurie how he saved Michael in 1978.

Deputy Frank Hawkins is a supporting character in the 2018 horror film Halloween, and its sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

He is deputy in the town of Haaddonfield, who crossed path with the iconic serial killer, Michael Myers, and is responsible for arresting him, despite saving his life after Dr. Samuel Loomis tried to kill him. Forty years later, after Michael escapes the psychiatric asylum, he was locked up in, Hawkins attempts to find Michael and kill him once and for all, remorseful for sparing him and thinking of that as a mistake.

He was portrayed by Will Patton.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • He, as an officer, always tries to keep people safe, and he is shown to be very selfless and to care a lot for the citizens.
  • When he saw a strange looking, suspicious individual, who happened to be Michael, he ordered him to identify himself.
  • He made an operation against Michael, which ended up being successful, as it ended with him being arrested and thus stopping his first killing spree in 1978
  • While he stopped Loomis from killing Michael, something that would've done much more good than bad, he wasn't aware of how inhumanly evil Michael was, genuinely thinking he was a person who deserved to live despite being a dangerous murderer, as well as reminding that he was "somebody's baby boy", so his motives to do this were admirable.
    • Even then, when seeing the horror Michael caused when he was free again, he would deeply regret saving him, and even blamed himself for the murders that happened afterwards.
  • While he became romantically interested in Laurie Strode, he recognized she had feelings for Ben Tramer and didn't go along with this.
  • Investigated and accompanied Michael's second killing spree, with the intent of stopping him, definitely this time.
  • Helped track down Michael with Dr. Ranbir Sartain, and briefly with Laurie.
  • Agreed to look for Laurie's granddaughter.
  • Warned Haddonfield's population through a radio to lock their doors, as to prevent a higher number of deaths.
  • Found Allyson, Laurie's granddaughter, after her friends were murdered by Michael, and brought her with him to ensure her safety.
  • When he found Michael, despite Sartain insisting to take him alive, he ran over him, knocking him out.
  • When Sartain declared Michael dead, Hawkins attempted to shoot him in the head, just to be sure, only to be betrayed by Sartain, who stabbed him multiple times with a stiletto blade, leaving him on the ground.
  • In the hospital, he reunites with Laurie Strode and they remind each other of their old friendship, making company to each other.
  • He offered Laurie comfort by saying that Michael's killings weren't her fault, but his, due to leaving Michael alive back then in 1978.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He fails the admirable standards to Laurie, a Pure Good, who killed Michael once and for all and fought another serial killer, Corey Cunnigham, and arguably to her daughter and granddaughter Allyson and Karen, who helped her achieve those deeds. Though he still stands out enough in the Halloween trilogy itself, as while trying to kill Michael is standard and everybody does that, he arrested Michael in 1978, which prevented his murders for a long time.
