Lord Davos Seaworth is one of tritagonists of both the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels and the television adaptation Game of the Thrones. A former smuggler turned knight, he is very loyal and kind, and dedicated to his King, Stannis Baratheon.
During the War of the Five Kings, Stannis names him his Hand. In the novels, Stannis makes him a Lord as well. In the television series, after Stannis' death, he became an important advisor for King Jon Snow and in the end he was made a Lord by his new King, Bran Stark, and included in the small council as the Master of Ships.
He was portrayed by Liam Cunningham.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Smuggled food to Stannis and the hundreds of his soldiers during the Siege of Storm's End, saving their lives.
- He accepted the title of lord to make sure his sons (son in the show) would attain better conditions in life.
- Served in King Robert I Baratheon's royal navy for many years (14 in the books, 17 in the show), helping his admiral Stannis fight pirates, smugglers, and corrupt nobles and merchants aiding them.
- When Cressen wanted to poison Melisandre, he tried to stop him in order to save his life.
- Fought in the Battle of the Blackwater against King Joffrey's royal garrison.
- After he survived the Battle of the Blackwater, he happily returned to continue serving Stannis.
- He persistently opposed Melisandre's attempt to sacrifice Edric Storm/Gendry to her god in order to grant Stannis magical resources to win the war.
- He delivered to Stannis Bowen Marsh and Maester Aemon's plea letter about the wildlings attacking the Wall, effectively reminding him of his duty to protect his kingdom and helping him save the Night's Watch from Mance Rayder's Free Folk army.

- Saved Edric Storm's life from being sacrificed with the help of a few fellow King's men and Maester Pylos, by smuggling the boy out of Dragonstone and arranging with Salladhor Saan to have a crew of pirates smuggle the boy in their ship and carry him to Lys, all despite knowing doing so would either get them all executed or get them sent to Dragonstone's dungeons.
- He gave Shireen the farewell of her cousin and friend Edric, who was distraught for leaving without being able to personally see her one last time.
- Went on a dangerous journey to White Harbor as Stannis's envoy to win the northern city to his king's cause, braving autumn seas and continuing his journey even after Salladhor Saan and all his pirate fleet deserted and left him alone.
- When he reached White Harbor and faced the Manderlys and the Freys at the New Castle's court, he spoke only the plain truth and didn't sugarcoat any fact, outloud stating in front of the Frey envoys how Ser Wendel Manderly and Robb Stark were murdered in the Red Wedding, and how Stannis is the rightful king who can avenge them, leading to his arrest and "execution", and "his head" being sent to Cersei.
- Called out Ser Jared Frey for lying about the Red Wedding.
- He is currently on a mission by Lord Wyman Manderly and Robett Glover to find Rickon Stark on the island Skagos to restore the Starks as rulers of the North, in exchange for supporting Stannis as their king.

- Even when it seemed that Stannis and his army were going to starve, Davos tried to stay at his side.
- He tried to convince Stannis to allow him to bring Shireen to Castle Black.
- Mourned for all of Stannis's family.
- Pleaded to Melisandre to bring back Jon from the death, which she did.
- He helped Jon not fall to the ground after he woke up from being revived.
- He convinced Lyanna Mormont to have her house aid Jon and his allies against the Boltons.
- He tried to stop a fight between a group of Free Folk and other soldiers who served Jon.
- Helped the Stark army against the Boltons during the Battle of the Bastards.
- Also during the battle, Davos refused to have his archers shoot in the middle of the battlefield as doing so would kill several of their men.
- Marched south with Jon to meet Daenerys to convince her to help the North fight the White Walkers, even though they been warned that it might be a trap.
- Helped bring Gendry to the North to fight the White Walkers.
- He tried to bribe two of Cersei's guards to make sure they wouldn't try to get to Tyrion.

- During the Battle of Winterfell, Davos acted as the guard in the towers who kept watch of what was happening, which helped significantly in the battle.
- Despite all his hatred for her, he does show some degree of sympathy towards Melisandre by noting how, in his eyes, the God of Light gave up on her after all she did for him.
- Marched with Jon and they men to help Daenerys in the war against Cersei.
- After Daenerys begins incinerating all of King's Landing, he helps Jon to evacuate the crowd from the city.
- He and Jon tried to convince Grey Worm from killing defended Lannister soldiers.
- He stopped a conflict between Jon against Grey Worm.
- He prevented a conflict between Arya and Yara.
- He suggested to Grey Worm to leave with the Unsullied and make their own house in order to end a potential war, something which Grey Worm ended up agreeing.

- After becoming Master of Ships, he allied himself with Tyrion Lannister and Bronn, seemingly holding no grudge against them for causing the death of his son.

- Despite his inability to fight, he is a very brave man that routinely risks his life in multiple wars.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He became extremely hostile to Melisandre, and even plotted to murder her just because he blamed her for all the deaths in the Battle of the Blackwater, and Maester Cressen's death.
Exclusive to the Novels[]
- He doesn't seem remorseful about his previous life of crime at all, looking at his days when he used to serve aboard a pirate ship as a teenager with fondness, long before he became a smuggler captain.
- He is self-indulgent when it comes to sex, as by his own admission, he cheated on his wife multiple times, despite genuinely loving her.
- He was involved in Ser Cortnay Penrose's dishonorable death at Storm's End, which he deeply regrets.
Exclusive to the TV Series[]
- He was involved in Renly's dishonorable death, and he has not apologized for it, even when Brienne of Tarth informs that Stannis' men helped it. Although Renly was an enemy of war and tried to usurp his older brother.
- Continued to being hostile to Melisandre, even though she stopped her aggressive policies and tried to kill her for sacrificing Princess Shireen (and almost did it in the past). Although his motives are understandable, he couldn't forgive her in the same way that he forgave Tyrion and Bronn with whom he agreed to sit on the small council, even though they killed his son.
