Daniel "Danny" Fenton/Danny Phantom is the titular main protagonist of the Nickelodeon animated series of the same name.
He is a 14-year-old 9th grade student at Casper High School who became half-ghost, gaining ghost powers like intangibility, invisibility, and flight. He took on the alias Danny Phantom and now uses his ghost powers to protect his hometown of Amity Park.
He was voiced by David Kaufman.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- After inadvertently receiving ghost powers, Danny Fenton decided to use his half-ghost self to battle other evil ghosts. He felt it was his obligation to protect Amity Park and its citizens.
- Despite being sometimes being headstrong and overconfident, he is willing to take responsibility and learn from his mistakes, and over the course of the series, he learns not only how to be a hero but also how to be a better person.
- Even with both his parents being hostile to his ghost half up until the final episode, he never let it interfere with his love and concern for their wellbeing. He also didn't tell them about being a ghost not just out of fear, but also to protect them.
- He saved Paulina from Sam who was under the Amulet of Aragon curse.
- He defeated Vlad various times.
- Rejected on joining Vlad, despite knowing Vlad could help him control his powers.
- Despite his dad being an embarrassment a lot, he felt remorse for insulting him behind his back and tried his best to put up with him.
- While he has used his powers for revenge, this is justified as Danny often uses it to get minor revenge things on bullies and uses them to get back at his ghostly enemies who humiliates him in their fights to know how it feels.
- Save his friend Sam despite being under the control of Freakshow.
- Defeated his rogue of enemies.
- Defeated the Fright Knight and told Mr. Lancer he cheated in the haunted house contest because he accidentally (and almost) put the life of his vice principal, Mr. Lancer, and the fate of the world at risk just so he could win a bet with Dash in the episode "Fright Knight".
- It was kind of hard to feel bad for Lancer as Danny didn't do anything to get in trouble, besides bumping into Dash by accident. Dash was the one who tried to hurt Danny and Mr. Lancer didn't want to punish a jock because he helped win the school their football games. In addition, Lancer also held Danny and his friends responsible for the cafeteria fight in the first episode, even though Dash started it.
- Lead his classmates to save their parents from Youngblood and Ember.
- Teamed up with his enemies including Valerie on stopping Pariah.
- Defeated Pariah Dark.
- He rejected to be like his evil counterpart Dark Danny. This ultimate battle resulted in Danny beginning to use his powers more responsible since then.
- Teamed up with his enemies to stop The Ghost Writer. It was kind of hard for Danny to apologize because he suffered a lot of trauma from his parents negligence over the years of some dumb argument of Santa, which understandably jaded Danny's Christmas spirit. Also, while he was destroying Christmas decorations to blow off steam, he destroyed the Ghost Writer's new and long Christmas poem. He didn't see the Ghost Writer coming out of his house and it was a total coincidence that one of the toys just ended up on the poem at the wrong time. Danny apologizes because it was a total accident, but the Ghost Writer didn't see it as an apology and overreacted to it in a bad way.
- Despite his sour view of Christmas, he still tries to save everyone from the ghosts the Ghost Writer creates in his story, even when people were ungrateful and ganged up against him. It's because everyone was under the Ghost Writer's influence, and Danny's the only one who knows about it. He knows it wasn't entirely his fault to begin with; the Ghost Writer was purposely pinning blame on him to help him learn his lesson of Christmas.
- While he was in the right to call his family out on their negligence towards him, he later learns his lesson that just because his parents ruined Christmas for him, doesn't give him the right to ruin it for others just to blow off steam, and vows to be better about the holidays.
- Danny does use his powers to spy on Sam while she briefly dated a new foreign exchange student, Gregor, not just out of jealousy, but more out of genuine concern for Sam's safety. They don't know much about Gregor and he legitimately believed he was a phony; likely a spy for the Guys in White trying to earn Sam's trust. While Sam calls him out for it, she blatantly ignores the fact that she has once spied on Danny while he briefly dated Valarie purely out of jealousy, thus acting like a total hypocrite. Danny later apologizes for spying on her and was ready for her to go steady with Gregor, only to find out she dumped him after figuring out he was a womanizing teenager.
- Defeated Freakshow and The Guys In White.
- The Guys in White make it explicitly clear that they're gonna put Danny through "lots and lots of really painful experiments" after learning his secret identity. And given how willing they are to cause a lot of collateral damage (even arrest and kill off innocent kids), Danny is rightfully not so keen on following their terms.
- After defeating Freakshow, he takes the Reality Gauntlet and uses it to restore the Earth back to normal, wipes the world's memory of him being Danny Phantom, and hands Freakshow over to the authorities (after turning him back to human). After which, he decides to destroy the Reality Gauntlet for good and never intended to keep the power for himself because it proved too dangerous.
- Defeated powerful ghosts, like the weather controlling ghost, Vortex, the plant ghost, Undergrowth, and the dream ghost, Nocturn.
- Stopped the Guys in White from destroying the Ghost Zone. If they'd succeeded, then they would have destroyed the human world as well.
- Saved Tucker several times from corruption, like when Desiree turned him into a mutated half-ghost he was able to separate them. The second time he was able to convince Tucker to control the Sphinx so they can defeat Hotep-RA.
- He forgave Dani for helping Vlad capture him, and cared about her as he felt remorse for her being killed.
- While Danny does realize that Dani is an imperfect clone of himself, he recognizes that, unlike the other clones, Dani is capable of thinking and feeling for herself. While Vlad merely saw Dani as disposable, Danny saw her as her own person worth keeping safe and he tries to warn her about Vlad's true intentions. This is what helps Dani see the error of her ways and switch to the side of good.
- He teamed up with Valerie to defeat Vlad Plasmius and save Dani when she returned to seek a cure for her instability.
- He returned the Infi-Map to Frostbite and the Far Frozen twice.
- Helped cure Vlad from his Ecto-acne, despite not trusting him. Of course, Danny (understandably) didn't want to at first because Vlad normally double crosses him, so Vlad had to infect his friends, Sam and Tucker, to blackmail Danny into helping him.
- Defeated Vlad in space while getting the Infi-Map from him the second time.
- Helped saved the world from being killed by a giant asteroid called the Disasteroid.
- Despite capturing the ghosts, he did it to have them help him save his world. It is likely most of them wouldn't help if he didn't try capturing them, as earlier all of his enemies blasted him unprovoked when he tried to ask nicely earlier. He also tried to talk the ghosts, including his old, new, and former enemies into helping him save not just the Earth, but the Ghost Zone as well (as they're flip sides).
- When his parents knew about his secret identity, he accepted it as he revealed himself to the world.
- In A Glitch in Time, after Danny defeats Dark Danny a second time, his alternate future self has managed to leave a devastating impact to the timeline. Because of this, Danny asks Clockwork to erase everyone's knowledge (minus Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and likely Valerie) of his involvement in the Disasteroid incident and make his alter ego a secret again, sacrificing his entire fame and glory for the sake of time itself.
- He does have his vengeful moments, like when he gave Dash a wedgie, put frogs into his pants, and stuffed toilet paper into his locker. He also pulled pranks on Vlad just to humiliate him. In the end, Danny takes full responsibility for his actions and attempts to apologize to Dash and Vlad and explains himself after realizing he's taken his vengeance too far. Unfortunately, Dash gives him a wedge afterward, and meanwhile, Vlad refuses to acknowledge Danny's pleas by vowing to make his life [and everyone else's] as miserable as possible; these instances force Danny's hand at having to use his powers to make them back off, only if him asking nicely fails the first time.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He is sometimes stubborn on many episodes and has a few vengeful moments, which often leads to making bad decisions. However, this is a minor prevention as this factor seem to somewhat shred later on as he matured throughout the series, but this flaw remained at minimum.
- He can sometimes be a bit of a pervert, but these moments are often played for mischief, thus making it a minor prevention.
- In the first episode "Memory Blank", it's briefly shown that he once used his paranormal superpowers to go sneak into the girls locker rooms and then run out of there at least twice with a sign of delight while doing that. While it's a mildly perverted moment with Dan being a peeping tom, it was also played off as a joke (twice), meaning that it was merely played for mischief and nothing more than that, thus making this a minor prevention.
- There was also an episode where he wanted to see a girl in a bikini and was disappointed when he couldn't do it.
