What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Even when factoring him existing in other continuities and go by their admirable standards, he would still stand out from other human characters for having fewer resources and for his impact on the series.
- While he killed a number of fishes with a sample of Oxygen Destroyer, it isn't heinous enough to be a corrupting factor considering:
- It relies on Fridge Horror whether fishes in question may or may not sapient because it wasn't touched upon.
- It was meant to show Emiko the danger of his invention thus the reason it must kept secret in the first place. He also immediately comforted her afterwards, lamenting that he had no other way to do so.
Godzilla[]
- He was considered as one of Japan’s great scientists thus accountable for its improvements as it recovered from World War II.
- Upon discovering Oxygen Destroyer, he kept it a secret from everyone save for people he truly trusts, not wanting to reveal such invention to the world until he figured out its more beneficial applications.
- Reluctant upon Emiko and Ogata's pleas at first, he agreed on their quest in using his batch of Oxygen Destroyer to defeat Godzilla after witnessing the damage he done to Tokyo under the condition of him directly involved in such mission and that would be its first and final use as a weapon.
- Disposed most, if all of research notes pertaining Oxygen Destroyer so the knowledge won't be abused.
- As he unleashed Oxygen Destroyer upon Godzilla, he decided to sacrifice himself both to ensure Oxygen Destroyer truly worked against the kaiju and the rest of knowledge pertaining his dangerous invention in his mind died with him along the way.
- While he never learned that Godzilla was a tragic kaiju who lost everything because of humans' nuclear testings, this didn't count as a corrupting factor since Godzilla's future rampages must be prevented regardless and was not unware of the past regardless.
- Although he did so in the ocean, how much Oxygen Destroyer affected marine life relied too much on Fridge Horror to make it corrupting since it wasn't explored much apart from Godzilla and (in Heisei films) Precambrian lifeform that would become Destoroyah.
- While the events of Heisei continuity revealed that such action gave rise to Destoroyah, it was never his intention for such outcome to happen. Instead, that further justified his concern regarding the danger Oxygen Destroyer posed to the world, a sentiment shared by Emiko and Dr. Ijuin.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He had a jerk moment in which he had a brawl against Ogata who insistent of him using Oxygen Destroyer against Godzilla, though this was a minor prevention as he apologizes shortly afterward and that his opposition of using his horrific invention as a weapon was understandable.
