His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Although he used to be a loan shark who only helped Gi-hun because of the money, he has since redeemed himself and became a selfless ally to Jun-ho. by finding a new job in renovated the Pink Motel and putting behind his life of crime.
- Despite the high Admirable Standards of the series, Woo-seok stands out for his crucial role in ending the Korean Squid Games:
- He investigated Captain Park and exposed his true identity to Jun-ho. If it weren't for this, Jun-ho would've died, thus leaving the games to freely slaughter hundreds of people yearly.
- Even while a criminal, he was still polite and well-mannered, as shown by him thanking a food vendor and still paying his cab driver despite the pressure of chasing the Recruiter.
Squid Game[]
- He and the other loan sharks spent years attempting to find the Recruiter to end the Squid Games.
- He saved Gi-hun from getting arrested by knocking out Jun-ho with a fire extinguisher.
- He assembled Gi-hun's strike team with the most efficient mercenaries he knew, giving the team a huge boost in manpower.
- He helped Gi-hun search through the Halloween club.
- When he thought he was going to lose the "Rock-Paper-Scissors Minus-One" game, he still played honourably despite knowing the Recruiter would shoot him dead. He didn't even know that Jeong-rae was about to sacrifice himself at that time.
- He and his team searched for the island and Gi-hun's tracking device, eventually finding it with a fisherman. But when it turned out to be a diversion, he quickly reported it back to Jun-ho.
- When he heard a strange noise during the night, he went out to investigate.
- At the fourth night of the investigation, he expressed his concern that Captain Park had something to do with the drone operator's disappearance. When Jun-ho didn't believe this and instead dismissed it as a drinking problem, he didn't argue back.
- In the morning, he left Jun-ho's search team to pursue his own investigation on Captain Park.
- He broke into Captain Park's house and discovered his association with the Squid Game staff, confirming his suspicions.
- He snatched his phone and evaded the police to quickly call Jun-ho, warning him that Captain Park was secretly sabotaging them. If it weren't for this, Jun-ho would have died and failed to expose the Korean Squid Games, letting them freely continue slaughtering hundreds of people yearly.
- While he killed Captain Park's dog, it was out of self-defense.
- After being released from prison, he seems to have abandoned his criminal life and appears to have formed a friendship with Hwang Jun-Ho.
What Prevent Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- While he left behind his life of crime, he has never shown remorse for the past crimes he was convicted of, which include kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault, threats, and extortion. However, this isn't too preventing as those crimes were off-screen and unimportant to the overall narrative.
- He is prone to making reckless decisions at times. He and Jeong-rae recklessly pursued the Recruiter despite Gi-hun's warnings, and he knocked out Jun-ho out of pure paranoia.
- Despite mellowing out after his redemption, he still has some jerkish moments. For example, he exploded at the police when they refused to give him his phone and argued with Mu-dong that moneylending was actually beneficial. However, given how dire the former situation was, this outburst was pretty understandable.
- He expressed a vengeful desire to kill the Masked Men the same cruel way they killed Jeong-rae, making him minor lethal. However, given the trauma he went through and losing his best friend, this is a very minor prevention.
