Chiyo is a major character in the Naruto anime and manga series. She was an elder and former counselor of Sunagakure. She was an expert on puppets and poison, a very powerful user of the Puppet Technique, even being the leader of Sunagakure's Puppet Brigade, and Sasori's grandmother. She eventually gave up her life to save a dying Gaara using a reanimation ninjutsu.
She was voiced by Ikuko Tani in the Japanese version, and by Barbara Goodson in the English version of the anime.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She fought the shinobi Hanzo multiple times, learning how his poison worked so she could create an antidote against it.
- She trained her grandson Sasori on how to create puppets.
- She was sad when her grandson became a villain.
- She helped Sakura fight Sasori.
- She utilized the Life Force Transferring Technique to save Sakura, before realizing she was not dead, showing she was willing to die to save her.
- Despite killing Sasori, she had no choice because Sasori was not willing to surrender and he would have killed Sakura otherwise.
- Despite Sakura cursing Sasori, she stopped her from doing so and blamed the corrupted teachings of the Hidden Sand for his villainy, showing she still cared for him.
- She used this same jutsu to save Gaara when Naruto and the others found out he died, reviving him at the cost of her life so he can continue his life as the Fifth Kazekage.
- With Gaara's revival, Chiyo indirectly solidified an ever-lasting alliance with the Leaf, thus putting the Ninja world to getting closer towards peace.
- When she was resurrected in the Fourth Ninja World War, she complimented Kankuro for defeating a manipulated Sasori in the war.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Wanted to get revenge on Sakumo Hatake for killing her son and daughter-in-law during the war, even though he is not a villain.
- Has mischievous moments such as pretending to be dead just to scare her brother and mess with him.
