| ~ Chief’s catchphrase |
Chief Clarence Bailey, better known as Chief or temporarily known as Chief Man, is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Sarah Hatoff and 80-HD) of Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series.
He is the loyal and childish yet very heroic chief of the local police department.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite being very rude to Dog Man in the first book, Chief, after seeing Dog Man almost getting crushed, sheds most of this behavior off and would soon become friends with him.
- He aided in defeating the Mysterious Stranger and Flat Petey in the second book.
- Despite his bad reputation, Chief trusted Dog Man to guard Dr. Dookie and his assistant from Flippy in the unlikely events that Flippy was revived.
- He supported Petey when he was contemplating redemption.
- He went to help Li'l Petey with the rest of Dog Man's friends after Flippy threw him far away.
- He cheered up Dog Man after he was fired from being Yolay's bodyguard.
- He helped defeat Petey and Supa-Mecha Philly from destroying the whole city.
- He and Milly went to (temporarily) defeat the FLEAS.
- He helped save Petey from Piggy's wrath.
- He and 80-HD went out of their way to break the law to free a falsely imprisoned Dog Man.
- He saved multiple people from a burning fire in the Gassy Behemoth Studios Theater.
- He tried to defeat Dr. Scum and his Collosal-Bot 2000.
- He had Dog Man recall every Supa Brain Dot in the world due to how dangerous the drug was.
- He tried to stop the Fair Fairy and her army.
- He put his job on the line to help save Dog Man from the wrath of Crud.
- He tried to save Dog Man, who was saving the mayor, from the latter's burning house, though Sarah Hatoff stopped him.
- He tried to defeat the Sippy Cups from toppling down the local hospital entirely, which would have severely injured if not killed countless of patients.
- He helped rebuild Petey's lab.
- He saved Dog Man from eating poisonous chocolate cake, as chocolate is bad for dogs.
- While it could be argued he fails the admirable standard, he doesn't really, as heroes that are more admirable (ex. Dog Man, Petey, Li'l Petey, etc.) have more resources and it would be unfair to compare the two of them together.
- However, due to how it could be argued Chief has more authority than anyone else in the series, whether or not this point still stands has not yet been discussed.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- While he has shedded off most of his anger from Dog Man, he still can be very rude to the point it hurts Dog Man's feelings sometimes. However, this is a minor prevention since he only does it when being annoyed.
