Sprout... Change is hard. I'm normally not too fond of things I can't control either.
~ Hitch Trailblazer tells his friend Sprout how change is hard and that he's not too fond of things he can't control either, referring to his past actions to Sunny.

Reformed heroes are those who began with having corrupting qualities, some were once villains, but then later subvert them. As Near Pure Goods have little to no corrupting factors, reformed Near Pure Goods will always subvert most of their corrupting qualities.

A Pure Good subcategory of heroes in this category are Wholly Reformed heroes, who ultimately manage to subvert ALL of their corrupting qualities.

Near Pure Goods with debatable subversions of corrupting factors cannot fall under Reformed if they have not subverted any other corrupting qualities, as the Reformed category is only meant for heroes who explicitly subvert corrupting qualities.

For obvious reasons, Redeemed Villains must be under this category by default. It could also include heroes who do a Corruption Rejection or From Zero to Hero,

Examples (excluding Redeemed Villains) are:

  • Woody, who was very jealous of Buzz Lightyear until their friendship leading his change of heart.
  • Axol, who had an obsession with Melony before understanding that he was being bad to her and apologized to her.
  • Thor, who was blood-thirsty, extremely arrogant, and xenophobic towards the frost giants before being sent to Earth and losing most of his corrupting factors.
  • Tenya Ida, who wanted to get revenge on Stain until Shoto and Izuku talked this out with him.
  • Mr. Incredible, who used to put his superhero fame and glory seeking days to help others above his family but eventually realized that family is more important than anything in the world.
  • The Powerpuff Girls, who in certain episodes obtained corrupting qualities as greed, candy addiction, control freak, lethalness, etc, although it is due to the fact of being manipulated, confused, mischievous or frustrated, or the mixture of the 4, but at the end of said episode they end up subverting it since they tend to learn from their mistakes and becoming better heroines.
  • Sokka, who originally started out as being incredibly sexist and arrogant before learning to respect women and be humbler.
  • Shulk, who initially started out as being very vengeful, eager to overreact, a little stubborn, and incredibly arrogant, but later lost those traits over the course of the game.
  • Marlin, who used to be a control freak before learning to accept others for who they are.
  • Sasha Waybright, who acted quite antagonistic, bullish and controllable towards Anne Boonchuy in first two seasons, but later realized the error of this and felt extreme remorse, before ultimately redeeming herself.
  • Akame, who was shown to be quite lethal and a cold-hearted person, including with Tatsumi, until subverting almost all of her corrupting qualities as well as becoming best friends with Tatsumi and protecting him at all costs.

Please do not add Near Pure Goods here who have only faked corrupting/villainous qualities (e.g. Fix-It Felix, Frozone, Janet van Dyne, Heimdall, Black Widow, Finn McMissile, Ms. Sara Bellum, and Joebotnik McCricket). They should go under Misguided, Hidden Near Pure Goods and/or False Antagonists. However, characters should go here as long as they had genuine corrupting qualities.

Also, Heroes who originally had other prevention like being too standard, too amoral, or relied on fridge brilliance too much, but got more admirable or more personality, motives and characterization (e.g. Baymax, Lucinia Porter), should not be added here either unless they've explicitly been established to have had corrupting qualities. This category is only for heroes who once had genuine corrupting qualities but ended up subverting/losing them.

It is possible for Near Pure Goods to be Wholly Reformed, but only if they fail the admirable standard by a little degree, are amoral and/or insufficiently characterized (e.g. Sergeant Calhoun, Marcy Wu, Bandana Waddle Dee, Neville Longbottom, Michael Afton, and Regulus Black). In many other cases, a lot of characters in this category can come extremely close to being wholly reformed. (e.g. Pikachu, Zhen, Meta Knight, Woody, Mr. Incredible, Wreck-It Ralph).

They are the opposites of Debased Near Pure Evils.
