Sorry guys, being... *twitches* trapped in the i-internet graveyard r-realm for 5 years really does a number on your sanity.
~ Axol explaining how he lost his mind.
Manny: Buck, when exactly did you lose your mind?
Buck: Mmm... Three months ago. I woke up one morning married to a pineapple. An ugly pineapple! *sigh* But I loved her.
~ Manny and Buck about the latter's grip on reality

Mentally Ill Near Pure Goods are heroes who suffer from some sort of mental disorder that affects their personality and behavior. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are crazy or insane, but they can be and tend to come across as such. While these Near Pure Goods suffer from a mental disorder, they can still be Near Pure Good if they can understand what is right and wrong, and can still commit extremely admirable acts of heroism, despite having (mostly) limited views on reality.

Examples Include:[]

  • Starlight Glimmer, who suffers from many mental disorders such as paranoia, OCD and BPD, all of which stem from her role as an antagonist and her past of her best friend Sunburst leaving her to Canterlot due to his cutiemark.
  • Tamaki Amajiki, who has social anxiety disorder such as when he is unable to speak to the whole of Class 1-A as well as other moments.
  • Jade Grady, who suffers from a guilt complex, and showed some subtle symptoms of bipolar depression.
  • Natalie Octarine, who has PTSD from being tortured by Scarlet.
  • Harry Potter, who shows symptoms of PTSD during the Order of the Phoenix.
  • Rarity, who displays signs of histrionic personality disorder and OCD.
  • Korra, who suffers from PTSD and depression after being tortured, paralyzed, and nearly killed by Zaheer.
  • Sans (Undertale), who displays several symptoms of clinical depression due to knowing that everything he does will eventually be reset.
  • Invincible, who suffers from paranoia, PTSD, anxiety disorder, and various others from the amount of trauma he endured throughout the villains he fought in his life.
  • Subaru Natsuki, who suffers from PTSD due to all of the horrible deaths that he has endured.
  • Bobby, who suffers from amnesia due to getting knocked out and tossed off a ship by a Paper Macho Gooper Blooper.
  • Joebotnik McCricket (Joe Venture), who suffers from pyromania and paranoia after being a constant victim of cosmic predicaments, who was forced into many universes and was also tortured for 60 years by a sadistic scientist from the cosmos called The Gatekeeper; making Joe grow a "fixer mentality" with a heavier side to his Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in Joe's Cosmic Saga. Joebotnik also has became a little masochistic and grew a schizophrenic side to his mischief, his tricks, his thrill-seeking behavior and his hidden self-pity (prior to suffering from a guilt complex).
  • Mikan Tsumiki, who displays symptoms of dependent personality disorder and social anxiety disorder.
  • Mike Schmidt, who displays symptoms of PTSD due to the kidnapping of his brother.
