~ Carmelita after Sly escapes in the end of Sly 2 |
Carmelita Montoya Fox is a major character in the Sly Cooper franchise and the titular character's love interest.
She is a high-ranking Interpol agent, who's always in constant pursuit of Sly and his gang, having made it her life's goal to put them behind bars. She initially had a very black-and-white view of crime and saw Sly as no better than any other criminal, but after having fought alongside him and his gang in Thieves in Time, she eventually came to realize that they both wanted the same thing (criminals off the street) but just did it from opposite sides of the law.
She was voiced by Roxana Ortega in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Alesia Glidewell in Sly 2, Ruth Livier in Sly 3, and Grey DeLisle in Thieves in Time.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She lacks the anti-heroic traits that the Cooper Gang (including Sly himself) has, always remaining morally righteous when it comes to the law.
- While she does have a rivalry with Sly and wants to arrest him, she's willing to put it aside and work with him to stop even greater threats.
- Although she sometimes shows willingness to kill heinous criminals like Clockwerk and Neyla, it is justified due to how evil they are.
- In Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, she arrested four members of the Fiendish Five.
- Helped Sly defeat Clockwerk and honored her promise to give him a ten-second head start.
- In Sly 2, when she captured Murray, she checks in on him to see if he was doing ok and gave him jellybeans as a snack.
- Destroyed the hate chip, putting an end to Clockwerk's reign of terror for good.
- After she captured Sly, she went on to have a conversation with him, talking about their interests like art, music, etc.
- Protected Venice from Don Octavio's henchmen when they terrorized the city for a short while.
- Defeated and arrested Muggshot in Sly 3.
- While she didn't intended on arresting General Tsao, she locked him up anyway due to his actions.
- She rescued Sly from being crushed to death by Dr. M's monster and, at the end of Sly 3, defeated Dr. M himself.
- Temporarily joins the Cooper Gang in Thieves in Time after being banished in time and helps them on a number of occasions:
- Rescues the Cooper Gang from solitary confinement with Tennessee.
- Beats Red-Eye in the sharpshooting contest and gets the final key from him.
- Tails the Grizz on her own and got the security codes and full schematics for his mountain base.
- Saves Sir Galleth from a giant robot hydra after he got attacked by it.
- Despite her discomfort, she goes along with Bentley's plan to dress up as a belly dancer and belly dance to distract Miss Decibel's ape guards.
- Threw herself into her work after Sly's disappearance, busting criminals at a record rate.
- After Sly disappears, she, Bentley, and Murray went looking for him, and never gave up.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She can be a bit short-tempered when it comes to Sly's thievery and getting tricked by him.
- She can be lethal at times when using her shock pistol, like when she attacked a guard in "Flight of Fancy". And she even states she enjoyed making tough guys cry like babies.
- She lied to Sly about them being partners at the end of Honor Among Thieves when she thought he had amnesia. She was, as far as she knew, taking advantage of an amnesiac by trying to change who they were and was hypocritically angry when she found out he was lying.
- However, it is shown that Carmelita knew that Sly was possibly lying the whole time, but was in denial as she truly wanted to believe that he changed for the better and did eventually reconcile with him, making this a minor prevention.
