Buttercup Utonium, better known as Buttercup, is one of the three titular main protagonists (alongside Blossom and Bubbles) of The Powerpuff Girls franchise. She is also known to be the second of her sisters while Blossom is known to be the first and Bubbles is last. Her main ingredient is spice and her main color is green.

She was voiced by Elizabeth Daily.

Is remorseful for most of her actions.
Is willing to protect Townsville at all times and stop Mojo.
She loves her father/creator Professor Utonium and she is very protective of him.
Despite being mischievous, most of her pranks are totally harmless which are minor.
Despite being a five-year old kid, she has a clear moral agency since she knows the difference between good and evil.
- Even if her moral agency issues were present, it wouldn’t change anything as she was already good before she became a superhero.
Rejected most of her corrupting factors.

The Powerpuff Girls Movie[]

Even before she became a superhero, she was already very affable and caring.
Was remorseful for causing mass destruction in the city of Townsville even if it was unintentional.
- Besides that, her mass destruction in the city is relies on Fridge Horror, it is not known if it caused any deaths.
Tried her best to gain her trust of Townsville and even was going to quit being a superhero since she once again caused mass destruction in Townsville until the citizens of Townsville apologized since Buttercup didn't mean to cause that many destruction in Townsville.
Stopped Mojo Jojo from making a mutated monkey army.

Season 1[]

Stopped a bug disguising as a human from invading Townsville with his whole army of bugs.
Stopped 3 guys disguising as The Powerpuff Girls.
Stopped Mojo and break the case which turns everyone back into normal after when Mojo turn people into dogs.
Stopped Sedusa and convinced to the Professor that Sedusa is disguising as a beautiful lady.
Stopped HIM, saved Bubbles, and felt remorse for fighting against Blossom.
Saved all of the citizens that were sick by using the antidote to turn them back into normal.
Instead of joining the Gangreen Gang, she stopped them even though she had a crush on Ace, who is the leader of the Gangreen Gang.

While she may put a giant mess in the entire Townsville, it was the Professor's fault since she was forced into using the Dynamo suit since the Professor wanted them to even though it can burn up the entire Townsville. Otherwise, the Professor was a bit overprotective.

Season 2[]

Stopped Princess Morbucks and did what's best for her.
Instead of fighting the Gangreen Gang, she plays Dodgeball to stop them rather than just fighting them since the teacher wanted them to play Dodgeball all because they can't fight.
Stopped Mojo and saved the Mayor two times. She also stopped Harold Smith.
Saved her, Blossom, and Bubbles' birthdays from being destroyed by Mojo and Princess Morbucks.
Taught people how to fight the monster and then yet managed to succeed.
Stopped Sandman from getting everyone to sleep permanently.
Stopped Mojo from trying to destroy the girls and has her rights to get mad at the Amoeba Boys for being stupid since they didn't knew it was Mojo's plans.
Stopped an army of Broccoli by eating them.
Take the bath even though she refused to, although it's only to fight crime again.
Stopped Blossom from getting away with her actions and get her arrested for stealing the Golf Clubs.
Wanted what's best for the citizens but Professor wanted them to sleep in 7:30 simply because her teacher wanted them to sleep 7:30 early since she can't be sleepy in school.

When the Professor made a new pet, it ended up turning into a giant monster due to eating too much food so she fix it by stopping the monster.
Stopped Patches by using her imagination and accepted Mike as her friend after when Mike was sorry for his actions.

She and her sisters played crime together in the Professor's house by pretending to fight crime with each other while it was raining.
Has her right to get mad at the Smith family since they tried to destroy the Powerpuff Girls all because of their dinner being ruined. She also stopped the Smith family.
Tried to fight crime without using her blanket since her blanket is missing.
Showed remorse for going too fast which made her go to the future where everything was destroyed all because of her since HIM corrupted the whole Powerpuff Girls earth and also told the Professor that they can't go on vacation since it might ruin the future.
Forgives her classmates and stop Mojo after when her classmates is going to kill the Powerpuff Girls just so they can get the Chemical X.
When she noticed Ms. Bellum was kidnapped, she knew it was Sedusa who kidnapped her since Sedusa was disguising as Ms. Bellum.
Knew that Mojo was disguising as a girl, although instead of attacking Mojo, she's just going to watch him for now so that she wouldn't let her friends know that Mojo was disguising as a girl.

Season 3[]

Had to fight the elderly villains since they robbed the bank until Blossom stopped her.
Showed remorse and apologize to Blossom for making fun at her hair. She also stopped the giant eye monster.
Wanted what's best for the Professor by moving back to Townsville since everyone in the other town are jerks to the girls.
While she tormented Mojo Jojo, this is justified as Mojo wanted to use her and her sisters to conquer Townsville.
- This is also played for laughs, so it does not count as prevention, or at least does not count as a big prevention.
Stopped Mojo Jojo and wanted the Professor to switch everyone's bodies back.
Convinced Bubbles to wear her glasses so that Bubbles can stop the giant ant.
Taught Morbucks a lesson by stealing everything she has after when Morbucks made a contract where everyone can steal everything and break the law meaning that crime is legal.
Did not trust Mitch and was going to watch him to see if he's doing something wrong with the hamster. She also taught him a lesson by getting him chased by the hamster since Mitch turned the hamster into a monster.
Stopped Mojo Jojo again from turning people into dogs.
Stopped the robber that tried to steal the jewelry from a cereal.
Now realized that using a Superhero suit is ridiculous and she realized she can't save Townsville because of it so instead she take off her superhero suit and become her normal self again.
She felt very remorseful for beat up Mojo Jojo for candy, and she apologized to the mayor for yelling at him, also subverting this as she is not seen addicted to candy again in later episodes.
Assists in helping the monster find the kitty he wanted.
Stopped multiple enemies in Hot Air Buffoon and stopped the Mayor from destroying Townsville and made him redeem himself.
Felt remorse for not stopping the Professor when he was sleepwalking since he was stealing all of the toys while he was sleeping and Blossom didn't have a chance to stop him since she rather let him take all of the toys instead.
Stopped the Gangreen Gang after when Gangreen Gang loses their superpowers.
Stopped Leech by using the Mayor as her bait.
Is starting to feel remorse after scaring every boy of Townsville since she was tricked by Femme Fatale and stopped her as well.

Season 4[]

Showed remorse for making Bubbles cry.
Stopped Mojo from changing the present by going back in time and stop him from killing the Professor.
Shows concerns about where's the Professor but then realized HIM invited the Professor to eat at his restaurant.
Her last words was "We love you, Professor." since Dick Hardly is going to steal the Powerpuff Girls powers which almost got them killed.
Allowed the AWSM members to join her team after when the AWSM leader forced her to do many heroic deeds just so she can join the AWSM team but she couldn't.
Was sorry for leaving Robin behind all of the time since she has to fight crime.
Stopped an army of bugs and was about to stop the giant bug from causing Townsville to be destroyed but instead the Professor stopped him and was proud at the Professor since the rain is all gone.
Decided to adopt Bullet but then let him go since Bullet really wanted to stay in the forest.

Season 5[]

Wanted Professor and Ms. Keane to be in love since they were lonely.
Showed remorse for getting Blossom to leave the Powerpuff Girls and Professor behind since Buttercup is now called the "leader".
Saved her and Bubbles' dream and stopped HIM.
Wanted the monsters and humans to hang out and get along since the Mayor wanted them to live in Townsville.
Decided to help the detective founding out some clues by getting the Talking Dog to say about what happened since the Talking Dog was so scared.
When the Mayor was crying like a baby since he ended up becoming giant all because he wanted a toast, she decided to get him a toast and make him smaller again.
Stopped the Amoeba Boy army by "adding" or multiplying them.
Realized there was a burglar so she tried stopping the burglar but instead the Professor stopped them (while he was asleep).
Instead of attacking Mojo, she follows what the law says by sending him to the zoo.
Felt remorse for treating her substitute teacher Mr. Green as a villain and trying to destroy him.
Stopped the Rowdyruff Boys by making fun of them.
Tricked the Rowdyruff Boys by letting them go to Morbucks' vehicles so that she can stop them.
It's possible she still has a love interest with Butch since she was revealed to have a love interest with Butch when she got older.
Stopped the monster from destroying the house by telling the truth since she used her lies which made the monster existed.
Stopped Boomer from stealing a kids' candy and was impressed that Bubbles actually managed to trick the Rowdyruff Boys by disguising as Boomer.
Convinced Stan and Sandra to make the Powerpuff Girls become Superheroes again to stop their enemies again.
After realizing that cussing is not good for people since she's been saying cussing words that are not good for people especially for little girls, she no longer used that word and realized how bad that word was since the Professor said it in front of Bubbles.
When the "Silent Treatment" guy steal the Professor, she saved the Professor, although after realizing that the "Silent Treatment" guy wanted an interesting voice, she gave away the Professor's voice to him to make him happy.
Stopped the three adorable animals.
Wanted to make the Professor happy by making him win the Chili contest. She also stopped the fart monster from making Townsville so smelly.
Made the Professor happy by making the Professor feel proud of himself since the inventions he created are an accident, yet very great inventions.
Realized that Mojo actually forced people to speak his language so she later get the people back to normal by getting the Talking Dog to teach them to talk normal again.

Season 6[]

When the girls heard that the Professor hated the girls (although the Professor only hated the cakes, she made for the girls since it was messed up), she ended up destroying the Professor's lab. However, she showed remorse after realizing that the Professor actually hated the cakes since it looks terrible.
When the Mayor has a nightmare, she decided to help the mayor by looking at his dream so that she can give the Mayor a good rest.
Made the Gangreen Gang proud by defeating Sedusa for them even if Gangreen Gang stole everything they needed for Sedusa since she felt bad for the Gangreen Gang when they were betrayed by Sedusa so she decided to let the Gangreen Gang go for now as well as returning all of the stolen artifacts that the Gangreen Gang has stolen for Sedusa.
- It is also implied she forgave Ace for breaking her trust back in season 1.
Is going to take care of the baby until they find someone who actually has a baby.
Decided to take anger management after realizing what she did to Fuzzy Lumpkins which made Buttercup reform from her lethal ways and no longer became lethal after when this episode happen when she realized what it feels like to be calm and happy.
Realized that Mojo acts like the narrator which ended up making the girls criminals and destroying each other so she stopped Mojo Jojo from being the narrator and saved the narrator.
Stopped Monty and Monty's assistant and shows remorse for not wearing sunscreen which ended up getting her tortured hard by sunburns.
Stopped Mojo Jojo by working together with the girls since they were swirled together.
Stopped the Pirates and sent them back to the future.
Had fun with Fuzzy's kids after having an argument with them during their vacation.
Tried her best to not do any damage to the town and stop Mojo since she was turned giant.
Stopped Willy and knew they were disguised as TV characters just so they can steal the jewelry.
Stopped the Gnome after realizing that the Gnome was using the girls and their powers just so he can become the hero instead of the girls.
Stopped Morbucks from putting everyone in the naughty list, was sorry for unintentionally causing mass destruction in the North Pole and later fixed it by delivering every present in Townsville since everyone got coal.
Showed remorse for having fought with her sisters for the key to the world.
She felt sorry for K.A.R.R. and started crying instead of saying everyone is equal.

What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]

There are times when she is a bit jerkish and arrogant as she sometimes fights with Blossom like thinking that strength is better than intelligence.
She can be a little selfish and inconsiderate at times. For example, in "Dream Scheme" she didn't care that Sandman was tired and she gave him a nightmare to the point that he doesn't want to sleep again, and "The Powerpuff Girls Rule" she fought with her sisters over the key to the world to make the world "better", although in "Dream Scheme" Sandman wanted everyone to sleep forever and did this so Sandman would reverse his spell on the world, and in "The Powerpuff Girls Rule" felt remorse for doing this, it makes them a minor prevention.
- There's also the example in "Moral Decay" where she beat up a bunch of villains who weren't doing evil deeds just to knock out their teeth for money.
While most of her pranks are totally harmless, she had a few mischievous acts as the fact that she acted somewhat bratty with Mojo Jojo in "Child Fearing" when Mojo was her babysitter, although Mojo wanted to get her and her sisters to help him to take over Townsville, and that it is played for laughs, this makes it a minor prevention.
She, like the other Powerpuff Girls, can be sadistic when beating up their enemies, such as in the episode "Candy is Dandy", where she brutally beats up Mojo Jojo for stealing a candy jar to the point where he almost is killed.

She alongside her SatPPG counterpart are the only versions of Buttercup to be Near Pure Good, since her other two canon versions, reboot and anime are voted as Inconsistently Admirable.
