Brianna Berenson is a deuteragonist in the 6-part science fantasy novel, the Gone series, a collection of books that revolves around the aftermath of every person over 15 in the town Perdido Beach to vanish. Other unexplainable things also happen like a giant dome surrounding the town and certain children developing powers. Brianna is one of those children.
While there are many other admirable characters with supernatural abilities, Brianna is the only one who would be classified as a superhero, and she embraces her powers to reflect that. She called herself "The Breeze" and devoted her entire time inside the FAYZ to using her powers for good.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
Background[]
- She was a loyal friend to Dekka Talent at school, to the point where Dekka began to have romantic feelings towards her.
- While she went to Coates Academy, a school for troubled children, similarly to Dekka, she wasn't sent there for a justified reason, with it simply being because she was getting bad grades.
Gone[]
- After Sam frees her from Caine Soren's imprisonment, she pledges her unquestionable loyalty to him.
- She fights bravely in the Thanksgiving Battle, even going against Caine himself at one point.
Hunger[]
- She is the only mutated child to train with her powers to be a better hero.
- She saves Sam while he is being tortured by Drake Merwin, also preventing Drake from causing a nuclear meltdown.
- She jumps into a radioactive pool to get the power plant remote, nearly dying due to radiation sickness in the process.
Lies[]
- She takes care of Computer Jack when he has the flu.
- She rescues Justin, Astrid Elison, and Little Pete when they are forced off the edge of a cliff by Mary Terrafino and Drake.
Plague[]
- She rescues her former enemy, Caine, from the Gaiaphage's army of bugs, and the two fight alongside each other.
Fear[]
- She rescues Justin again, this time from Drake Merwin.
- She helps Diana Ladris give birth in the Gaiaphage's mineshaft.
- While she invertedly causes the Gaiaphage to possess Diana's baby by placing it on the Gaiaphage's essence, this is not her fault as the combined mental manipulation of Penny and the Gaiaphage itself makes her believe it was a crib.
Light[]
- While she acts distant with Dekka after finding out Dekka's true feelings towards her, the two make up and are on good terms in the end.
- Despite being injured and having a huge power disadvantage, she fights the Gaiaphage head-on, nearly winning. This unfortunately leads to her demise as the Gaiaphage eventually overcomes her.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She has some jerkish moments in the series such as getting angry at Jack for leaving a party with Diana and snapping at Dekka when she tried to de-escalate the hostility with Zil Sperry and the Human Crew.
- She can sometimes be unnecessarily brutal and sinister such as when she slashed at Drake Merwin’s genitals (although he deserved it), along with making Brittany watch as her body was being cut into pieces. However, the latter was unlikely to have been done out of malice as Brianna expressed sadness at having to mutilate her and it was possibly just an unconventional attempt at lightening the mood.
- She can be arrogant to the point of recklessness at times as shown when she bragged about being faster than a bullet when, in reality, she's slightly slower, along with how she accidentally brought negative publicity to the FAYZ in an interview by casually talking about disembodying Drake along with overstating her own lethality because she thought it would make her look cool.
Trivia[]
- She is one of the two heroes from the Gone series to be Near Pure good, alongside Hunter Leftkowitz.
