Brent McHale is a major character in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs duology.

He was the mascot of the Baby Brent Sardine brand, meaning he was popular and well seen by Swallow Falls, as the town's only viable economical procedures were sardines. He bullied aspiring inventor Flint Lockwood when they were children, but once they grew up and Flint ended up solving the town's problems with his invention that turned water into food, and he lost all his glory, he went through an existential crisis, wondering what his purpose was, and ended up helping Flint solve the problems caused by his own invention.

He was voiced by Andy Samberg who also voiced Dale in Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • A few minutes after being rejected by the population, he became a nicer and humbler person and less of a hedonistic egotist, just by rethinking his entire life, showing he was always good inside, but all the attention and lack of criticism prevented him from showing it.
  • He wanted to help Flint and his party go save the world by destroying the FLDSMDFR, even when they told him there was no space, he insisted.
  • He went with Flint and Sam, jumping into the big food "planet", and while it ended up causing more harm than good, it had our intentions.
  • After being swallowed by a chicken, he seized control of it of fought off the others, allowing Flint and Sam to continue and save the world.
  • He saved Sam and took her to Manny, who could cure her of her peanut poisoning.
  • Agreed to help the others save Chewandsawllow from the Foodanimals.
  • He tried to cheer Flint up, and when he screamed at him because of Chester V's manipulation, Brent got sad rather than mad, and didn't do anything against him, while easily forgiving him afterwards.
  • Helped stand up against the LIVECorp's members who wanted to kill all of the Foodanimals.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • While he does prove to be a helpful ally, he is also pretty incompetent at times, as shown when he stopped Flint and Sam's apparent near-successful attempt at dropping right onto FLDSMDFR and directly defeating it, instead forcing them to go another, much longer and more dangerous path. The second movie shows this is not subverted, as he, now working as a sign twirler, puts a tree as his substitute worker while he goes to Chewandswallow. However, he still manages to be helpful regardless of his incompetence, thus making this a minor prevention.
