Him Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- As a hunter, he has repeatedly saved people from various dark forces. He was also a very wise hunter, and his wisdom often helped other heroes in the fight against the unknown.
- He was a "second father" to Dean and Sam, and protected them as his own children, and also taught them a lot that he could do himself.
- Unlike Dean and Sam, he is able to show compassion to some monsters that do not pose a threat.
- Despite not being as admirable as Dean or Sam, it’s unfair to compare them to due Bobby being old and not being able to get help from people like Castiel and being a less experienced hunter. Not to mention, a lot of Dean and Sam’s admirable deeds only happened because Bobby gave them information that they didn’t know, and he along with John mentored the brothers, allowing him to stand out more than John and have his own actions that allow him to pass the standard.
In the Past[]
- He was protecting his mother from his tyrant father, who was constantly beating them up. And later Bobby killed him with a shotgun blast. Although it was his mother's protection, and his father deserved it, Bobby still felt remorse from it, and did not want to be the same father, and did not want to have children from it.
- Although he killed his wife, he did it involuntarily, because a demon possessed her, and Bobby at that time did not know how to expel a demon from a human body.
- He also knew John Winchester and often helped him. In particular, he helped to make protective boxes for cursed objects and took his sons with him when John went hunting alone.
- He spent more time with Dean and Sam than their own father John, which gave John a reason to quarrel with Bobby.
Season 1-2[]
- He helped Sam and Dean capture the demoness Meg and perform an exorcism on her. Before the ritual is completed, Bobby warns Dean that the "real" Meg may die when the demon leaves her, as she fell from a seventh-floor window and simply could not survive. However, the Winchesters completed the ceremony anyway.
- He gave Dean and Sam some of the items from the list, which, as it turns out, are necessary to summon a demon.
- He lets the Winchester brothers take his van when they go in search of Ellen Harwell.
- He helped Dean exorcise the demon from the possessed Sam, and also gave the brothers talismans to protect them from demons.
- He helped Sam and Dean get rid (as it seemed to them) of the magician.
- He helped Dean find the missing Sam in a haunted town.
- He and Ellen Harvill closed the Gates of the Devil.
Season 3-4[]
- He helped Sam and Dean deal with the demons that escaped from Hell.
- He gave the Winchester brothers information about the rabbit's foot.
- He helped Sam and Dean find a professional thief, Bela Talbot, who stole a rabbit's foot from them.
- He, along with Dean and Sam, searched for the Queen of Hell, Lilith, to stop her.
- He helped Sam and Dean defeat angry ghosts.
- It was he who suggested to the Winchesters that a ghost can be killed if its remains are burned.
- He introduces himself to the FBI agent by phone as the head of the Bureau, thereby helping Sam and Dean out of a difficult situation.
- He saves the bewitched brothers from the siren.
- He and Dean locked Sam in an anti-demonic bunker, hoping to rid him of his addiction to demonic blood.
- He said Dean shouldn't leave Sam, he should try to save his brother even against his will.
Season 5[]
- Although he was offended by Sam, it was justified because Sam did not listen to him and Dean, and accidentally freed Lucifer.
- When a demon possessed him and tried to kill Sam and Dean, Bobby took control of his body for a second and plunged an anti-demonic knife into himself. Although Bobby survived, he still proved that he was ready to sacrifice even his life for Sam and Dean.
- He called the Winchesters and said that there was an invasion of demons in one city.
- He had difficulty and had to kill his resurrected wife, who was supposed to turn into a zombie.
- He helped Sam and Castiel lock Dean up so he couldn't say yes to Michael.
- He tried to persuade Dean to help, calling him his son, but Dean said that Bobby was not his father and this hurt Bobby very much, after which he took out a gun and wanted to shoot himself, but did not do so because he promised Dean not to give up.
- To help the Winchesters, he pawned his soul to the most important demon of the crossroads - Crowley.
Season 6[]
- He helped Dean find Sam to get him to reconnect with his soul.
- He went to investigate a strange death related to the mother of all monsters, Eve.
- He was depressed after the death of his friend Rufus.
- He and the Winchesters find Samuel Campbell's hidden library, and after hours of research, they find a folio revealing that phoenix ashes can kill Eve.
- After receiving the phoenix's ashes, he joins Sam, Dean and Castiel in the hunt for Eve.
Season 7[]
- He cast a spell to reopen the portal to Purgatory to help Castiel, even though it was too late.
- He helped Sam and Dean escape from the hospital where the Leviathans were staying.
- He found out that Osiris is killing people.
- Even as a ghost, he continued to help Sam and Dean.
- Although he was furious with Dick Roman, it was even more than justified, since he killed him, and Bobby wanted to get back at him for it. And besides, Dick more than deserved it.
- He gave up his desire for revenge on Dick, and even allowed Sam and Dean to rest his soul.
Season 10-15[]
- Even while in Paradise, he still helped Sam and Castiel find Metatron, and even admitted that helping the Winchesters made him happier than he had ever been in Paradise.
- After Dean's death, he was reunited with him in heaven.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Sometimes he can be lethal, both in relation to humans and supernatural beings.
- He has problems with alcohol, and when he drinks, he can be very rude to people.
Trivia[]
- Initially, he was considered a Heroic Benchmark, but it was decided that his actions stood out enough, and it was unfair to compare him with Dean and Sam, since they have more resources.
- Along with Mary Winchester, he is one of the two heroes of Supernatural, who is Near Pure Good.
