KING BOB!
~ Bob's most famous quote.
Bello! La, la, la, la, la, la.
~ Bob

Bob is a supporting character of Illumination's Despicable Me franchise, and serves as the tritagonist of the series' prequel, Minions, and one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Kevin and Stuart) of Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Bob is the youngest, naive and enthusiastic companion of Kevin and Stuart, who willingly tagged along with the latter two to find a new and villainous master to serve, and the trio ended up finding Scarlet Overkill, but she eventually backstabbed and double-crossed them all and threatened to kill them, along with the rest of the tribe of minions. After she was defeated by Kevin and Gru, Bob and the other minions tagged along with Gru. Despite that, Bob still holds a good friendship with Scarlet Overkill regardless of her heinous actions and attempting to annihilate the race of minions, as he is eager to offer Scarlet the crown from his teddy bear, Tim, that Queen Elizabeth II rewarded him.

Bob is voiced by Pierre Coffin, who also voiced the rest of the other minions (including Kevin and Stuart) in the same franchise.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • While he is pushed into villainy by the other Minions and even Gru, he lacks selfish/arrogant intents, being an overall energetic thrill-seeker that wants to seek happiness. Furthermore, none of his "villainous" deeds inflict actual harm, unlike Gru and Kevin, who even embrace attempting to kill people, and he is typically willing to be nice to those around him.
  • He lacks most of, if not all, of the naughtiness and guiltiness the other Minions have, and is argued to be the nicest of them all.

Minions[]

  • He, along with Stuart, came with Kevin to assist him in finding a new boss to serve in order to save their tribe.
  • During his trip at Orlando, Bob, along with Kevin and Stuart, befriended the Nelson family, despite them being a criminal-dedicated villainous family.
  • After arriving at Villain Con, he befriended some of the villains, especially when he asked them if help is required.
  • Despite Scarlet threatening him along with Kevin and Stuart to kill them if the trio do not succeed on getting the crown, Bob did not get haunted/irritated at her and liked her story instead.
  • After succeeding on getting the Sword in the Stone and being crowned to become the new king of London/England as the official replacement of Queen Elizabeth II, he ruled it with wisdom and peace during his time.
  • When Scarlet told to him, Kevin and Stuart, for the reason she desired to become the queen of London and discovered that the law was the only thing to turn her into the queen, he decided to give the crown and the queen right to Scarlet, despite the fact that she was still mad at them.
  • When Scarlet was still mad at the unintentional treason he, Kevin, and Stuart did by locking them in the castle’s dungeon, he (along with Kevin and Stuart) became apologetic for her and the trio did not mean to betray her.
  • He (along with Kevin and Stuart) went to Scarlet’s coronation to attempt to apologize to her and give her a flower ram as a peace offering to her.
  • After meeting a rat, aliased as Poochy, at the sewers of London, he befriended it and adopted it as his new pet.
  • After Scarlet ordered to attack and kidnap him, Kevin, and Stuart, he, along with Kevin and Stuart, assisted each other to get to safety, though the villains kidnap him and Stuart, but Kevin managed to escape.
  • After Kevin freed him and Stuart and Scarlet attempted to kill Kevin along with him, Stuart, and the other Minions, he (along with the other Minions) supported Kevin during his battle against Scarlet Overkill.
  • When Kevin sacrificed his life to save the Minions and London from Scarlet, he (along with Stuart and the other Minions) mourned his death, but were later relieved and delighted after seeing Kevin alive as he survived the explosion.
  • When the Minions found their new master, Gru, and the group followed him, Bob gave Scarlet (who also survived the explosion during the final battle against Kevin) his tiny crown gift to her, proving that he still cares for her, despite the fact that she tried to kill him and the minions several times.

Minions: The Rise of Gru[]

  • He convinced Gru to let them in his home on a rainy night after drawing a heart on his window out of the kindness of his own heart.
  • During his time serving Gru, he along with Kevin, Stuart, and the Minions cared for him as they passed a long time with him.
  • He tipped an ice cream cashier a teddy bear after Gru stole ice cream without paying.
  • After Gru stole the Zodiac Stone and the Vicious 6 were chasing, he along with him, Kevin, Stuart, and Otto helped each other to save themselves from them.
  • When Gru was kidnapped and taken to San Francisco by Wild Knuckles and his henchmen and he threatened Kevin to kill Gru in two days if he doesn’t get the Zodiac Stone and give it to him, he along with Kevin, Stuart, and Otto went to find answers about where the stone could be.
  • After unknowing where the stone could be and Otto was missing and Kevin had a plan to go to San Francisco to rescue Gru from Wild Knuckles’ house, he along with Kevin and Stuart went to the airport to travel to San Francisco, and he also was worried about Otto.
  • After arriving at San Francisco, him Kevin and Stuart tried to rescue Gru at Wild Knuckles’ house from him and his henchmen.
  • Knowing that Wild Knuckles’ henchmen were very dangerous, he convinced Master Chow (who she saved him, Kevin, and Stuart before from them) to train him, Kevin and Stuart Kung Fu in order to save and rescue Gru and she agreed, despite later Wild Knuckles’ henchmen decided to quit working for him.
  • He, along with Kevin and Stuart went to Master Chow’s Kung Fu classes to train and they trained all the best they could, and after misunderstanding that we’re ready, they went back to Wild Knuckles’ house to save Gru once again.
  • After knowing their Kung Fu skills, he along with Kevin and Stuart, went back to Wild Knuckles’ house to save and rescue Gru once again, although it was too late since Gru was taken by Wild Knuckles to learn and follow his evil steps and Belle Bottom and the rest of the Vicious 6 destroyed his house.
  • When Belle Bottom and her team become giant monsters by the Zodiac Stone’s power and they attempted to kill Gru by tying him at the clock tower as revenge for stealing the stone, he along with Kevin and Stuart went to the New Year parade to save him.
  • After being turned into weakest animals and Wild Knuckles returned back to save Gru from his former villain team, he along with Kevin and Stuart, teamed up with him in order to save and rescue Gru from Belle Bottom and the Vicious 6.
  • After losing to the Vicious 6, he along with Kevin and Stuart remembered Master Chow’s advice to use their inner beast and they regained the advantage as they defeated Jean-Clawed, Svengeance, Stronghold, and Nun-Chuck.
  • While Otto went to the clock tower to untie Gru, he along with Kevin, Stuart, and Wild Knuckles give him enough time to save Gru by fighting Belle Bottom in her dragon form.
  • After Belle Bottom and the Vicious 6 thought they killed Wild Knuckles and they attempted to kill Gru, he along with Kevin and Stuart defended him by using all their inner beasts at them, defending and protecting Gru, and leaving them unpowerful once and for all.
  • He along with the other Minions, Gru, and some of his friends, assisted at Wild Knuckles’ funeral to mourn his death and honor his legacy, and were relieved after discovering that Wild Knuckles was alive.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • Despite having a similar number of resources, Bob somewhat fails the admirable standards to Kevin, who saved his entire species from being annihilated by Scarlet Overkill.
  • Like the rest of the other Minions, Bob is mischievous and slightly incompetent since he caused a lot of destruction to property in the rehearsal during the film, Minions, and activated a song on his phone and manipulated those around him to dance along. However, his mischief and bumbling nature does not harm those around him, and he has a young and naive personality compared to the average Minions, so this is a minor prevention.

Trivia[]

  • Bob and Lucy Wilde are the only characters in Despicable Me to be Near Pure Good, since the other characters in the franchise are either inconsistent in their heroism so much that give into villainy easily (e.g. Felonius Gru, Dr. Nefario, Dru Gru, and most of the minions, including Kevin and Mel) or are too standard (e.g. the three girls, Stuart and Dave).
  • So far, Bob is the only Minion to be qualified as Near Pure Good, since the rest of the minions are too inconsistent (such as Kevin and Mel) or standard (such as Stuart and Dave) in their heroism.
