Blade Ranger is the deuteragonist of Planes: Fire & Rescue. He is the boss of Dusty Crophopper as well as the chief of the Piston Peak Air Action Team. Originally, he was an actor in a police television series called CHoPs before eventually leaving the acting business after his friend and co-star died in a stunt gone wrong accident.
He is voiced by Ed Harris.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Became a firefighter so that he could save innocent people's lives.
- Rescued a lone deer tractor from dying in a forest fire.
- Trained Dusty in order to help him become a firefighter.
- After Dusty admits his disability, Blade gives him encouragement to still become a firefighter, or he won't save lives in the future.
- Risked his life to save Dusty from being burnt to death.
- Rescued two RVs from being crushed to death.
- Participated in an airshow at the Propwash Junction.
- While he is less heroic in comparison to some of the other characters in the Cars universe (e.g. Holley Shiftwell, Finn McMissile, ect), he has fewer resources than them.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He has several jerkish moments, most of them towards Dusty. Examples include him telling him to "go win another trophy, champ!" or making fun of him when he accidentally sprayed retardant on a bunch of campers (which is a complaint that they told Cad about).
