Guh huh!
~ Banjo's Catchphrase
Kazooie!
~ Banjo whenever Kazooie says something rude or snarky

Banjo is a brown honey bear, and one of the two titular protagonists of the Banjo-Kazooie series alongside Kazooie. He is a lazy bear who enjoys playing video games, but will always go on an adventure to stop evil beings such as Gruntilda when they're up to no good. He generally serves as a foil to Kazooie: while Banjo is rather lazy and is (usually) nice, Kazooie is always up to do exciting things and is a jerk.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • He will often get onto Kazooie for being rude to others, which shows he cares a lot about how others feel.
  • He helps most of those around him with their problems along the way and makes their days better.
  • Although he is capable is killing living honeycombs for recovery honey, this doesn't make him too lethal as the honeycombs can respawn when he leaves and re-enter levels as none of them die permanently, not to mention, this isn't treated as canon and a game requirement.

Diddy Kong Racing[]

  • He helps Diddy Kong save Timber Island from Wizpig.

Banjo-Kazooie[]

  • He saves his sister Tooty from Gruntilda.
  • He saved jinjos throughout Gruntilda's Lair.
  • In the first level, Mumbo's Mountain, he took Conga's orange and gave it to Chimpy since he was too scared to get it himself due to Conga's brutality.
  • In the second level, Treasure Trove Cove, he goes into Captain Blubber's pirate ship to find gold and give it to him to buy a jet ski for him to transfer on water due to Blubber's inability to swim.
  • In the third level, Clanker's Cavern, he frees Clanker, a robot shark from being locked within dirty water and swims through a lock turner to give him fresh air.
  • In the fourth level, Bubblegloop Swamp, he and Kazooie use the beak buster on Tanktup's feet to cure his feet from being cold and numb thus allowing Tanktup to put his feet back in his shell to provide shelter, warmth and healing for his feet.
  • While he and Kazooie use the beak buster on Tiptup's choir at the aforementioned level when they follow the music of Tiptup and his choir, this doesn't make them violent toward children as the children aren't physically nor mentally distressed.
  • In the fifth level, Freezeezy Peak, he made child polar bears happy by giving them Christmas presents and finding their dad and curing him by using their strength to release a jiggie stuck within his interior system.
  • In the sixth level of Banjo-Kazooie, Gobi's Valley, he freed Gobi from being stuck and chained to a boulder and then they used his water to give a sapient tree named "Trunker" water to thrive.
  • In the seventh level of Banjo-Kazooie, Mad Monster Mansion, he fixed several talking potted plants making them sprout and thrive again.
  • In the eighth level of Banjo-Kazooie, Rusty Bucket Bay, he freed a dolphin named Snorkel from being stuck under the ship's anchor.
  • In the ninth level of Banjo-Kazooie, Click Clock Wood, he fed a talking bird named Eyrie caterpillars throughout the warm weather and helped him grow to the wintertime.
  • In the aforementioned level, during Autumn, he collected six acorns to help a squirrel named Nabnut hibernate and survive for the winter after he ate them throughout spring being filled up in summer.
  • In the aforementioned level, during summertime, he busted a boulder to give a beaver named Gnawty a home which he gains gratitude during autumn.

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge[]

  • When Gruntilda kidnaps Kazooie, he goes to save her.

Banjo-Tooie[]

  • He saves jinjos throughout all the worlds he visits.
  • He saves the entire island called Isle O' Hags from having it and its inhabitants' life forces be drained and turned into zombies.
  • When defeating Klungo for the first time, he decides to let him leave.
  • In the first level, Mayahem Temple, he cleans Bovina's corn field from being infested by Gobbles and protect her crops from the pests.
  • In the aforementioned level, he enters the Treasure Chamber, he returns Targitzan's sacred relic stolen by a caveman named Unga Bunga and returns it to Chief Bloatazin.
    • He also presumably prevents Bloatazin from swearing to keep the game family-friendly when Bloatazin angrily shouts "Why those thieving little..."
  • He defeats the first boss of Mayahem Temple, Targitzan, the Despotic Dizzy Totem God.
  • He redeems Klungo by talking him into leaving Gruntilda due to the various abuse she puts him through, which makes him stop being evil and saves him from the abuse, despite his attempts to kill Banjo.
  • Although he pushed George Ice Cube off the cliff in the eighth level, Cloud Cuckooland, which led him to his death by burning in the Hailfire Peaks lava, this was an accident as Banjo is unaware that he accidentally murdered George.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts[]

  • He stops Gruntilda from using chaotic methods to turn Spiral Mountain into Grunty Acres.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He and Kazooie used the Beak Buster on Gobi 's hump to force water out of himself several times which causes him to be physically hurt and annoyed with the duo:
    • This started in the sixth level Gobi's Valley as they forcefully had Gobi water a sapient coconut tree thrive with water to gain a Jiggy and to collect a honeycomb without remorse. They did this twice more to grow a giant flower in the ninth level Click Clock Wood from summer to autumn.
    • Even in Tooie, in the third level Witchyworld in the Cave of Horrors section, if you encounter him by yourself as Banjo, he ignores Gobi when he pleads for freedom, though this is because he lacks the ability to free him on his own. But if you do free him which can only be done with Kazooie, they still physically harm Gobi in the lava side of Hailfire Peaks in order to cool down Chuffy even though Gobi is elderly and weak and still aren't remorseful.
    • This is minor, however, as it doesn't cause Gobi any grievous harm and Banjo does save Gobi when he's in danger.
  • In Banjo-Tooie he had another remorseless moment where he murdered a chinker named Mildred who wasn't ever attacking Banjo. This took place at the seventh level, Hailfire Peaks at the icy side where he killed Mildred by shooting her with fire or grenade eggs or the bill drill causing her to shatter to save a Jinjo that was frozen up inside her. Although she did say that she won't ever free the Jinjo, so Banjo tried to reason with her at first, plus Banjo wasn't sadistic at all when doing this which makes it not too severe of a prevention.
  • He can have some mischievous or jerkish moments:
    • In the two aforementioned games, one of his idle animations has him catch Kazooie by the neck and squeeze her windpipe upwards to her head with her coughing for her breath afterwards and Banjo laughing, though they appear to be play fighting.
    • In later installments he sometimes makes rude comments, though not as much as Kazooie.
  • He also plays soccer with Grunty's head in Banjo-Tooie, along with the other characters. While Grunty kinda deserved it, it was still unnecessary and quite sadistic.

Trivia[]

  • He started off as Near Pure Good but was cut and moved to Inconsistently Admirable over the thought that he killed innocent people without remorse. However, after reexamination, it is revealed that most of these moments are played for laughs or not inconsistent enough, making him reproposed and approved back here.
