| NOTE: This page covers only the non-canon good ending incarnation of Artyom as his canon counterpart is voted as Inconsistently Admirable. Thus only information about his good ending path in 2033 should be included here. |
| “ | H.G. Wells once wrote, "If we don't end wars, wars will end us.". And somehow, I stopped my war. At the time, I couldn't say what had made me spare the Dark Ones. But, I came to realize that the strange visions that haunted my journey were their attempts to reach out to us. I don't know if I was the first to communicate with them, but I will not be the last. And the future--our future--stretches before us like an endless Metro tunnel. | „ |

Artyom Alekseyevich Chyornyj is the main protagonist of Metro 2033.
He is an experienced survivor who has lived in a post apocalyptic world for his entire life. After an attack of a mysterious telepathic humanoid race known as The Dark Ones threatened his station and potentially costed the life of the Ranger known as Hunter, Artyom sets off his journey to destroy the Dark Ones and end their threat to the station, once and for all. In this alternate ending, however, Artyom didn't kill the Dark Ones and spared them instead.
He was voiced by Oleg Mirochnikov in Metro 2033, and by Chris Parson in 2033 Redux.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Pure Good?[]
- Due to the good ending being non-canonised, the Admirable Standards are much lower than in the canon path, thus Artyom doesn't need to be compared to other heroes like Samuel Taylor, Eduard Baranov and Vyacheslav Khlebnikov, making him stand out for his admirable actions in the ending path.
- Stopped the Nosalis attack at the Exhibition station with Hunter and Alex.
- Responsible for stopping the threat of the mutants at the Cursed station, which saved the rest of the station's people from the relentless mutant attacks.
- In "Front Line", he stopped the Communist deserter from being executed (in Redux), as well as rescuing the three Communists (Red Line) in the prison at the Nazi side of the map (or in the prison).
- In "Defense", he defended the last survivors of the Hole Station from the mutant attacks, before getting the tape from the captain to use it at the radio tower in the "Outpost" level to warn Polis about the mutant threat.
- In "Child" he also protected Sasha from being killed by the Lurkers.
- Instead of annihilating the Dark Ones with the missiles like in the canon bad ending, he shot the laser guidance system instead, thus sparing them from being bombed and having their raced wiped out. This is admirable and noble, as not only the Dark Ones are actually revealed to be a benevolent species and want no harm as they want to reach out to the rest of Metro inhabitants, but the Dark Ones, especially the wounded Dark One at the tower, praised Artyom for his noble actions. However, this action is discanonised as of Last Light, thus it stands out only within the good end path.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He has insufficient characterisation where his personality is predetermined by the player, due to being a silent protagonist. However, this is minor as in the loading screens and the diary pages his personality is shown to an extent.
- He has minor lethal moments in terms of dealing with his enemies. But given that his enemies are murderers at best, this is not too much of a prevention.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the two Near Pure Goods from the Metro series, the other being Vyacheslav Khlebnikov.
