“ | I built her because one day they're gonna come back. The Kaiju. And when they do, I'm not gonna be stuck waiting for someone else to come save my ass. Not like before. | „ |
~ Amara Namani's intentions of building Scrapper. |
Amara Namani is the deuteragonist of the 2018 sci-fi monster film Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel of the 2013 film Pacific Rim.
She was once the pilot and creator of Scrapper, who later became a conscripted cadet in the Pan Pacific Defense Corps at Moyulan Shatterdome and the co-pilot of Bracer Phoenix and Gipsy Avenger. She met Jake Pentecost at the scrapyard ten years after the 2025 Kaiju Apocalypse, simultaneously creating and activating Scrapper, and was later brought to the PPDC as a deal upon their detainment.
She was portrayed by Cailee Spaeny, while Madeleine McGraw portrayed her as a child, who also portrayed the young version of Wasp.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She stole Jaeger scraps from the Santa Monica scrapyard to create a one-piloter named Scrapper, whom she later entrusted for her survival and fighting off the Kaiju, even though it is what later saved the world and others from cascade by its welding mechanism upgraded by Liwen Shao.
- She tried to get her and Jake to safety from November Ajax after the former accidentally brought the police to her garage.
- She, along with Jake, visited and enlisted in the Moyulan Shatterdome and prepared themselves for training. This was after Mako had offered Jake the PPDC position as Ranger, to which Jake agreed in terms of wanting to escape the program himself.
- She genuinely tried to make friends with all the available cadets in the Shatterdome, who are fortunately good friends despite Viktoriya Malikova, who disliked her opinion on Jaeger's sizes.
- She, along with the other cadets practice Jake and Nate's training to use the Jaegers to fight the Kaiju.
- After she remembered her tragic backstory, in which she was a child who lost her family when a Kaiju named Insurrector inadvertently killed them at Santa Monica Pier, she broke down crying and sobbing over unintentionally causing their deaths, despite it not being her own fault and her being unaware of seeing her family photo at the wrong location.
- She, with her cadet friends Suresh Khuran and Renata Gutierrez, took Ou-Yang Jinhai to the hospital after the latter got infected wih Kaiju's toxic blood from Obsidian Fury's corpse, showing true care for her friends, even in reckless moments.
- When Marshal Quan decided to expel her from the Pacific Rim Defense Corps, she waved her goodbyes to her Cadet friends, and even followed Vik's advice to build a bigger Jaeger next time, later accepting her as her friend, despite the rivalry before.
- After Newton Geiszler hacked Shao's Kaiju-Jaeger hybrid drones and indirectly attacked Shatterdome, where numerous active Jaegers tried to apprehend the Drones to no avail, she and her friends tried to safeguard everyone to safety.
- She assists the surviving staff, Rangers, and her Cadet friends of Moyulan, by repairing the damaged Jaegers recovered from the Shatterdome attack after Jake brought her back into the team for her mechanical skills and Marshal Quan's fate.
- When she and her friends arrived at MegaTokyo, she prepared and fought Raijin, Hakuja, and Shrikethorn along with her Cadet friends and the surviving Rangers (including Nate Lambert), protecting the citizens from endangerment after they evacuated underground.
- When Newt combined the three surviving Kaiju into Mega-Kaiju using Rippers, overpowering the Jaegers, she and her friends still attempted to stop it by using all of their weapons against it. Although they failed, since the Mega-Kaiju killed Suresh and destroyed all the Cadet's Jaegers before injuring Gipsy Avenger and Nate in the process.
- She joined with Jake after Nate got injured due to critical damage done by Mega-Kaiju, in efforts to stop the latter in time before it reached Mount Fuji.
- Once Shao later arrives at MegaTokyo, piloting Scrapper from her conn-pod, she and Jake used the sole rocket thruster welded by Shao and traveled to the upper atmosphere where they would project Avenger towards the Mega-Kaiju. She and Jake later succeeded in saving the world by obliterating the Mega-Kaiju in half, preventing potential omnicide.
- After the Kaiju's defeat and Newt has been arrested for his crimes, it is implied that she returned back to her new life, training to fight back the Kaiju again and vowing to protect the world from any more alien invasions.
- She subverted most of her corrupting factors, including her former life as a criminal and her rivalry against Viktoriya.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite having subverted most of her corrupting factors, she remained some of her sarcastic teenager jerkiness in her, especially when she first met Jake and called November Ajax a "jerk" when it damaged her Jaeger.
- After arguing with Viktoriya, she brawled her in front of her friends, making them worried. However, it was only out of self-defense, as Viktoriya insulted her, later having their fight stopped by Nate, who told Vik to accept her as part of her family, so this is a minor prevention.
- She was also somewhat reckless, as she almost got Ou-Yang and her friends in trouble, or yet, killed, for investigating Obsidian Fury without proper caution, despite being warned about it by Suresh that it's not a good idea whatsoever.
