Near Pure Good Hero Wiki
NOTE: Only Aloy's appearances in the Horizon mainline series count as Near Pure Good, as her Genshin Impact appearance is not counted as Near Pure Good. As a result, only her actions and her info in the mainline series will be included in this page.

And only I… Only I have your genetic code. It won't be long before we hit the point of no return. And then… Extinction. I've been searching for months for what I need. A backup of GAIA, the AI you designed to control the system. But every time I think I have a lead, it comes to nothing. And every night I have the same dream. I'm walking under a brilliant night sky, through a field of flowers. And when I arrive at the center… I see you, Elisabet. Waiting for me. Even though you've been dead for a thousand years. You're the closest person I've ever had to a mother.
~ Aloy's monologue in Horizon Forbidden West.

Aloy is the main protagonist of the Horizon franchise.

She is the clone of the 21st Century roboticist and scientist Elisabet Sobeck, who is an outcast of her own tribe for 18 years due to her mysterious origins, including her birth.

She is later revealed to have been created by the terraforming Artificial Intelligence known as GAIA, as a purpose to stop the now-rogue AI known as HADES, who was an erstwhile part of the system that went rogue due to a malevolent AI known as Nemesis, as well as stopping the Eclipse. She later heads to the Forbidden West with her allies to reboot GAIA and retrieve its subordinate functions, as well as stopping Far Zenith and HEPHAESTUS.

She is voiced by Ashly Burch, and mo-capped by Hannah Hoekstra.

Her Good Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]

General[]

  • Aloy is shown to be sympathetic and altruistic, given her time as an outcast, and is willing to help others in need, including other outcasts of her own tribe.

Horizon Zero Dawn[]

  • She saves Teb during her childhood from Bast and the rest of the bullies.
  • She thwarts the Proving Massacre and avenged several newly inducted Braves who were killed during the horrific attack, including her former tormentor Bast, Vala, and a few others.
  • She stops the attack of the Corruptor and the Corrupted Machines that attacked Mother's Watch, moments after halting the Proving Massacre.
  • She, along with Varl, Sona, and the rest of the Nora Braves who joined with her, take revenge on the Eclipse attackers responsible for the Proving Massacre, who were seen settling in the Ring of Metal, ending their threat temporarily in the Sacred Lands.
  • She uncovers the real truth behind Ersa's death, stopped Dervahl's champion in his camp in Pitchcliff, and foiled Dervahl's genocidal plan in destroying Meridian with large amounts of Blaze barrels.
  • She stops all of the Eclipse's ancient FARO machine excavation sites in Rockwreath, Maker's End, The Grave-Hoard, and Zero Dawn Project Facility.
  • She stops the Eclipse's genocidal attack of the Nora tribe, saving the rest of her tribe from near extinction.
  • She helps Nakoa out and put an end to Zaid's criminality, including his slave ring.
  • She helps Talanah Khane Padish, during her term as a Thrush, and foiled Ahsis' rather despicable plans of killing Talanah for the title, as well as her and Talanah stopping the Redmaw that killed countless hunters. Her actions are what led to Talanah being installed as the new Sunhawk of the Hunters' Lodge, ending Ahsis' misogynistic policies, once and for all.
  • She stops Rasgrund, Ullia, and Gavan from destroying Sunstone Rock and putting an end to their threat.
  • She stops Bahavas and his men, with the help of Vanasha, saves Uthid from being hunted down by Shadow Carja bounty hunters, and later stops the Eclipse army from taking Itamen and Nasadi away after being smuggled by Vanasha in Sunfall.
  • She stops Helis and the Eclipse, as well as the rogue Artificial Intelligence HADES from transmitting the Extinction Signal, which awakened the long-buried FARO machines from around the new world, ending the rogue AI's threat, once and for all.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds[]

  • She helps Ourea out in her quest to rescue the benevolent AI CYAN, who has been imprisoned by HEPHAESTUS (the Daemon) inside Cauldron EPSILON for five years.
  • She defeats Aratak for the Banuk chieftaincy title, and later gains trust with the Banuk Werak chieftain, where she soon temporarily becomes a chieftain and leading the expedition to the Firebreak Facility.
  • She later defeats HEPHAESTUS and his machines in both the Firebreak Facility and later Cauldron EPSILON. While she knocked out, this gives Ourea the advantage to purge out the rogue AI from the Machine Cauldron's core, and with CYAN being finally freed from HEPHAESTUS' confinement.
  • She willingly relinquishes the chieftain title and give it back to Aratak, after her mission was fulfilled.

Horizon Zero Dawn the Comic Series[]

  • Aloy helps Talanah throughout her quest to stop the threat of the "new breed", black-armoured (Apex) machines, as well as with Aloy stopping the threat of an Apex Sawtooth that has been on the loose. She saves a girl, her own caravan's sole survivor, who was chased by the Apex Sawtooth responsible for the caravan's destruction and death of its other members.

Horizon Forbidden West[]

  • She stops Regalla's attack on the Embassy in Barren Light, as well as killing Regalla's champion Grudda.
  • She stops Vezreh and the Eclipse remnants in Shadow's Reach, as well as rescuing the Utaru prisoners held within the ruin, as well as with Aloy stopping Vezreh's genocidal plan of bombing the five capital cities around the Forbidden West.
  • She stops the attack of the machines sent by HEPHAESTUS within the cordon in Plainsong, saving the already-affected Utaru tribe from extinction.
  • She later reasons with MINERVA inside the Regional Control Centre and restores the self-aware AI back to its basic programming, before rebooting GAIA.
  • She, along with Erend and Varl, later rescues Beta inside Ninmah Research Facility, who has warned her group regarding the Far Zenith's progress of completing GAIA for their own ends.
  • She retrieves all of GAIA's Subordinate Functions, including AETHER, DEMETER, and POSEIDON, thus giving GAIA the heuristic matrix advantage to stop HEPHAESTUS.
  • She finally convinces Tekotteh to obey Hekarro's orders of sending his own tribe members to the Kulrut.
  • She later stops Regalla's attempted sabotage of the Kulrut in the Memorial Grove, saving Hekarro and the others from her genocidal attack.
  • She saves Amadis, with the help of Talanah, in Thornmarsh, as well as various prisoners from the Tenakth Rebels in the Rot within Raintrace.
  • She ventures to the Isle of Spires and stops the Apex Thunderjaw from attacking the Digsite, who have been attacking the Quen, thus gaining the respect of the tribe.
  • She retrieves Ted Faro's Omega Clearance in Thebes and later puts an end to the Ceo's plan, after the bunker's collapse and his betrayal and demise, ending his reign of terror towards his own tribe. She then convinces a shocked and displeased Bohai regarding the Ceo's fate, and their discovery inside the bunker, thus causing the Quen to side with Aloy, and with Alva joining in with Aloy's team.
  • She later leads the effort of retrieving HEPHAESTUS inside Cauldron GEMINI, in spite of the failure that happened due to the Zeniths' sudden interference.
  • She mourns Varl's demise at the hands of Erik Visser after recovering inside Tilda's old mansion.
  • She later stops Regalla's second attack of the Memorial Grove single-handedly by tossing an EMP into her machines, significantly crippling her army, and with Aloy later defeating Regalla in a battle to the death, thus ending the rebellion and saving the Tenakth from being used by Sylens.
  • She later spearheads the attack of the Far Zenith base, defeating the remaining Zenith survivors, as well as defeating Tilda van der Meer, who is now inside a Specter Prime exoframe, in a violent final battle, putting an end to the organisation, once and for all.
    • Even before the fight, she tried to negotiate peacefully with Tilda to avoid the battle.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores[]

  • Convinced Gerrit regarding Rokomo's innocence after Enki's demise, who in reality defended Rokomo from a group of machines, thereby allowing the admiral to arrest Rheng for insubordination and covering-up of evidence.
  • Joined forces with Seyka to find the missing Quen who have been brainwashed and kidnapped by the Zenith Walter Londra, who became subsequently a part of the latter's own cult.
  • Accepted Nova's own wish to be put at peace for last by shutting down its source code, after a millennia of abuse from its own master.
  • Saved Seyka's younger sister Kina from Londra, as well as the missing Quen from his park.
  • Thwarted Londra's plans of escaping Earth with his cultists, where he attempted to irradiate thousands of people from the planet with his own rocket. She also stopped him from escaping Earth and leaving it to Nemesis.
  • Stopped Londra from further using the Metal Devil/Horus as possible means to destroy tribal settlements he comes across, thereby saving the Quen and possibly other tribes from being slaughtered by his terror.

What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]

  • While Aloy has done a lot of admirable acts throughout the series, given the admirable standards of the franchise, where she easily passes, her personality and her various Minor Jerk moments, some of which are based on player choice, is what holds her back from Pure Good, unlike her predecessor Elisabet Sobeck, such as when she threatens the con artist Fernund with a threat should he never leave Meridian Village and stop his criminality of conning others, instead of peacefully telling him to leave. However, her personality doesn’t go to the point of being anti-heroic or overtly corrupting no matter the player choice so it is a minor prevention
  • After saving CYAN from HEPHAESTUS, Aloy has no problems poking fun of Sylens' treacherous and secretive past, resulting in him giving her the cold shoulder about it.

Trivia[]

  • Her genetic blueprint, Elisabet Sobeck, is listed as Pure Good, while her genetic twin, Beta, is listed as Inconsistently Admirable.
  • Only her mainline counterpart qualifies as Pure Good, as her Genshin Impact appearance does not qualify as such, due to her being mostly a crossover character that plays little relevance to GI's main story.
